Recap / Diagnosis Murder S 2 E 8 Georgia On My Mind

Go To

Private investigator Charlie Hawkins dies in Community General. The best lead available into his murder is through Charlie's secretary, Georgia.

"Georgia On My Mind" displays symptoms of the following tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch: After Harry and Walter walk into the sting, the shady guy that has been popping up throughout the episode goes for Charlie's Dictaphone. When he reveals who he actually is and what he's after, and not actually the killer, the elevator rings again, bringing up the real killers, Sly and Tyler.
  • Beneath Suspicion: Jack, Steve, and Georgia all state that they never expected the models when they get caught.
  • Betty and Veronica: Steve acts as the Betty and Jack acts as the Veronica to Georgia's Archie.
  • Bluffing the Murderer: When Georgia announces Charlie's last words were actually where Charlie hid his evidence, it leads them to wait in Charlie's office for the killer to come in and collect it. It of course works... eventually.
  • Dark Horse Victory: Jack and Steve spend the episode competing over Georgia's victory, but at the end of the episode, she ends up going out for the eveing with Mark, albeit in a platonic way along with Delores.
  • Forgotten Birthday: Well, "Secretary's Day", actually, but Delores's feelings towards Mark forgetting it rings the same way.
  • Lame Last Words: Jack is pretty disappointed that Charlie's last words were about Leave It to Beaver of all things. It turns out they meant much more than he thought.
  • Running Gag: People asking "The Beav?" whenever they hear Charlie's apparent last words.
  • Verbal Backspace: When Jack first meets Georgia:
Georgia: How's Charlie?
Mark: Are you his wife?
Georgia: N-no, no no, I'm just his secretary.
Jack: There is a God.
Georgia: Excuse me?
Jack: I-I said, erm... "I'm afraid he's with God".
