The FBI has put Wade "Deadpool" Wilson on the 'Most Wanted' list, resulting in a couple of police officers recognizing him when he attacks them. Wilson defeats all the police officers and breaks into their jail where he finds his HYDRA handler. The handler thinks that Wilson is there to break him out of prison, but Wilson just shoots him to death. Wilson then leaves, thinking about how next he's planning on killing both Steve Rogers'. First, though, he digs up a few hundred thousand dollars he had buried in a graveyard in case he needed funds to flee town, then goes to the Preston house where he finds the remaining Prestons in the process of moving. Terry Preston pulls a gun on Wilson, but Wilson just gives him the money. Terry references 'kids' being in his car, and Wilson notes that implies Ellie Preston made it home after abandoning him. Terry demands to know what Wilson did with Emily's body but Wilson won't tell him. Terry threatens to shoot Wilson but Ellie, hugging her brother Terry Jr. says not to because that would make Terry like Wilson. Terry gets in the car without shooting Wilson, and when Wilson tries to say goodbye to Ellie, she just makes a rude gesture at him. Terry drives away with Ellie and Terry Jr.

Wilson goes home and answers his phone when it rings. The caller turns out to be Stryfe, the time-traveling clone of Nathan Summers. Wilson tells Stryfe that he wants out of their deal (in which Stryfe would protect four people close to Wilson in exchange for Wilson killing four people for him), since all the people Wilson wanted protected now despise him. Stryfe says he doesn't care and demands that Wilson kill Nathan "Cable" Summers. Wilson refuses, but Stryfe then reveals that he time-travelled back to last Christmas and is with Ellie. He puts Ellie on the phone, and since Ellie doesn't hate him at this point, she's happy to talk to him. Knowing that Stryfe can easily kill Ellie, Wilson agrees to kill Summers.

Wilson burns down his house in order to stop anyone else from going after the Prestons in order to hurt him, then steals a fire truck and drives away. As he leaves he reflects on a battle had with Victor "Sabretooth" Creed in which Creed told him to get his life together. He then goes to the old base that he used when he used to work with the Avengers and reflects on all the people who were hurt due to their proximity to him, including several Avengers, a mercenary team he worked with, and the Prestons. He burns that building down too.

Wilson steals a duffel bag full of guns and a motorcycle, then drives away to kill Summers. As he leaves he notes that by getting out of town he's saving people from himself.

Tropes:

  • I Have Your Wife: Stryfe makes it clear that he is literally within a few feet of Ellie and can easily hurt her if Wilson doesn't do what he says.
