A series of bizarre crimes, accompanied by unusually calm reactions from the citizens, coincide with a rather stressful time in Darkwing's life.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Apathetic Citizens: Invoked; Quackerjack and Megavolt use a device called a Relaxatron to make everyone utterly careless towards their criminal antics.
- Didn't Think This Through: When 'Mr. Bananabrain' suggests that Quackerjack light a candle to see in the dark, he does so by setting a building on fire...which promptly spreads to the whole city.
- Don't Be Ridiculous: When Darkwing asks a pair of cardplayers whether they were robbed by a cowboy and Indian (which is what the candy shop owner said), one of them chastises him for saying something so silly... before adding that they saw a pair of pirates.
- Enemy Mine: Darkwing, Launchpad and Gosalyn work together with Megavolt and Quackerjack in order to put out the fire.
- Epic Fail: Darkwing tries to get rid of a fly by using explosives. His house became a mess and the fly survived.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Megavolt and Quackerjack may be eccentric criminals, but even they do what they can to prevent St. Canard from burning down (even though Quackerjack foolishly started the fire in the first place). Otherwise, they can't take it over.
- Fly Crazy: A fly interrupts DW's attempt to relax, and he goes after it in a manner that destroys the room and renders him even more stressed.
- Glad I Thought of It: Played With; Darkwing slips on some gumballs spilled during a candy store robbery. He doesn't say anything, but Launchpad compliments him for coming up with a plan to follow the thieves.
- Gone Horribly Right: Quackerjack and Megavolt are happy about the effects of the Relaxatron until Quackerjack sets the city aflame with a fire engine and nobody will act to put it out.
- Laughing Mad: A super-stressed Darkwing cackles as he tries to blow up a fly.
- Noodle Implements: Spoken among the ruins of a bowling alley: "And they didn't rob us, they just wanted to try this new kind of bowling with—" "A jackhammer, some marmalade, and a pack of wild panthers."
- Running Gag:
- Quackerjack calling Megavolt "Sparky", knowing how much he hates it.
- While under the Relaxatron's effects, Darkwing likes to eat cocktail weenies.
- Why Didn't I Think of That?: When Megavolt and Quackerjack are freaking out about the fire and nobody doing anything about it, Gosalyn asks why they didn't put it out themselves. The pair then asks each other why they didn't think of that.
