Origin Crisis is the seventh Episode in DC Universe Online which focuses on Heroes and Villains battling to control space and time alongside Future Batman and Future Luthor respectively.

Summary

After heroes and villains united against Brainiac, stopping his plans to remake the multiverse in his image, Future Lex Luthor’s designs on the Nexus of Reality and its promise of near-infinite power were revealed. The last we saw of that story, Future Batman arrived to stop Lex. The space/time continuum has been compromised, and though Brainiac has been defeated, war wages on.

Tropes

  • The Bus Came Back: Four episodes after their brief appearance, Future Batman and Future Luthor return, serving as the Big Good and Big Bad of this episode respectively.
  • The Computer Shall Taunt You: Lose against Batman in Corrupted Gotham, he will taunt you upon fighting him again.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: The briefings in Corrupted!Metropolis reveal Jack Ryder to be this in regards to Luthor. Unfortunately, no one listened.
  • In Spite of a Nail: While Batman may not exist in Virtuous!Gotham, Dick Grayson would still become Nightwing.
  • La Résistance: Corrupted!Metropolis reveals one to be lead by Green Arrow, who was captured. After freeing the citizens/resistance members, they mention going to free him.
  • Not So Above It All: A briefing reveals that Future Batman would prevent his parents being killed if given the opportunity. Even stating that he is willing to deal with any paradoxes that would result from this.
  • Origins Episode: Players are able to run solo instances focusing on the Orgins of the Huntress and Bizarro.
  • Pungeon Master: Lex becomes this.
    (Using a fire-based attack) "Don't get hot around the collar!"
    (Using an electric-based attack) "You may find this rather shocking!"
  • Retgone: The overall plan of the Councils of Batman and Luthor is to remove an important artifact from history which would erase the corresponding villain and hero respectively.
  • Stable Time Loop: The Corrupted and Virtuous versions of Metropolis and Gotham are due to the Heroes and Villains trying to undo the changes. Thus not affecting the main timeline.
  • Villains Act, Heroes React: Deconstructed in the "Dire Warnings" briefings. Future Batman notes that he may have been able to prevent Brainiac's invasion if he would've acted instead of reacted.
  • Wham Line:
    Lex Luthor: Metropolis is mine! And so is the world! Isn't it, Kal-El?
