Recap / DC Super Hero Girls 2019 S 1 E 41 Breaking News

Go To

Lois Lane's attempt to get an internship at the Daily Planet leads to her trying to unmask the Super Hero Girls, which forces the girls to a battle of wits with their greatest nemesis yet.

Tropes:

  • Acting Unnatural: When the girls think Lois is on to them, they try acting normally, and then dancing, to shake Lois off their trail. It didn't work.
  • Call-Back: Lois asks about the Sweet Justice and Zod incidents, in reference to "#SweetJustice" and "#DCSuperHeroBoys", respectively. On the photographs on Lois's wall, pictures from "#BurritoBucket", "#ShockItToMe", "#Beeline, "#AdventuresInBunnysitting", and "#MisgivingTree" are seen.
  • Frame-Up: Averted. Babs tries to pin Garth as Batgirl, but Lois Lane doesn't fall for it.
  • Hyperventilation Bag: Karen breathes into a paper bag when nervous about Lois knowing their secret identities. When it looks like they have eluded Lois, Karen throws the bag away, only to dive into the trashcan to retrieve it when it turns out Lois is still onto them.
  • Identity Impersonator: Diana stands next to Lois when Karen and Jess disguise themselves as Wonder Woman. Between Diana's Bad "Bad Acting" and the obvious Totem Pole Trench disguise, Lois is clearly not fooled.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Lois Lane manages to figure out the girls' identity pretty early on, back them into a corner on multiple occasions, have a backup notebook in case they stole hers, and see through their framing attempts really easily.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: Lois figures out the girls' identity, but doesn't let on she knows, making them think they tricked her.
  • The Silent Bob: Lois Lane is absolutely not one of those, but she might as well be, the way the girls all become scared and desperate every time Lois just looks at them and handles her pencil and notepad. And then they're all joyful at the end because she didn't look at them.
  • String Theory: Lois has managed to connect the Super Hero Girls to their secret identities this way.
  • What You Are in the Dark: In the end Lois realizes she couldn't live with herself if she ruined the Super Hero Girls to get ahead, and deletes her tell-all article shortly after having her finger hovering over the submit button. She doesn't tell them she knows but will keep it a secret, letting them think their feeble attempts to trick her worked.
