Supergirl uses the fact that the world thinks she's dead to reinvent herself.

- Adaptational Modesty: The famous Cleavage Window on Kara's Power Girl outfit is noticeably a lot smaller than the original Power Girl's.
- But Now I Must Go: "Power Girl" pretends she's going back to her home Alternate Universe when she goes back to being Supergirl at the end.
- Destructive Savior: The main reason Supergirl decides to try something new with herself is how mad everyone gets at all the damage she does saving the day.
- Funny Background Event:
- Livewire doing a Victory Dance behind the reporter.
- While the rest of her teammates are tearfully watching the broadcast of her apparent demise, a scorched Supergirl comes in behind them and gets a drink out of the fridge. Nobody notices her until they hear her crack the soda.
- Glad I Thought of It: Karen keeps suggesting Power Girl as the alias for Kara's new identity, but keeps getting shut down. When Kara decides to call herself Power Girl after all, Karen is understandably exasperated.
- Hero Killer: Livewire thinks she's this after obliterating Supergirl so thoroughly there wasn't even a body. Supergirl is clearly relishing showing her how wrong she was.
- Hero with Bad Publicity: Even when the press thinks she's dead, the reporter brings up how Supergirl's destruction overshadows (in terms of public opinion) the good she does, leading to this trope.
- Make Over Montage: When Kara harangues Zee into helping her find a new look.
- Mythology Gag:
- A lot of the alternate costumes Supergirl tries are parodies of official versions of the character. Among the costumes shown are both of her DC Animated Universe costumes, as well as her 1980s headband costume made famous in Crisis on Infinite Earths, and her bare midriff costume worn by her Post-Crisis incarnation.
- Supergirl's football jersey number is 59, referring to the year she made her official debut.
- When Superman confronts "Power Girl" about where she's from, she says she's from the Alternate Universe "Earth...2?". Like the original Power Girl was.
- Never Say "Die": Lightly mocked, where Supergirl mentions a bunch of euphemisms, before Wonder Woman just uses the word.Supergirl: "So they think Supergirl bit the big one, right? Kicked the bucket? Six feet under? Snuffed out?"
Wonder Woman: "Oh no, they think you are dead." - Shoot the Television: Smash in this case; at the end of the episode a news report has one of the construction workers complain about the mess Supergirl made while defeating Livewire that he needs to clean up and crying over wanting "Power Girl" to come back, only for Kara to destroy the TV in anger.
