Once Pandora's Box is open, there's no turning back.
Questioning Lucy, Faraday and Kiwi discover that she's been actively hiding Tanaka's data on David as a potential test subject for the cyberskeleton project, and was actually responsible for Tanaka's death to ensure his silence.

Realizing this, Faraday plans to offer both Lucy and David up to Arasaka to secure his position in the company. To carry this out, Faraday assigns David a mission to assault an Arasaka convoy. David recruits the help of Kiwi, Rebecca, and Falco and they manage to seize the convoy's main cargo, which is revealed to be the cyberskeleton.

A Militech force then arrives thanks to a tip from Faraday, who intends to force David to install the cyberskeleton and use it to destroy the Militech force as a demonstration of its power. Kiwi makes her escape as Faraday impersonates Lucy to trick him into installing the cyberskeleton.

Lucy is able to briefly escape and warns David about Faraday's duplicity before being recaptured. Angered, David uses the cyberskeleton to annihilate the Militech force despite the massive toll it takes on his body, and then tells Rebecca and Falco they will go rescue Lucy and get revenge on Faraday.

Tropes in this episode:

  • All for Nothing: Lucy's murders of all the Arasaka Netrunners to protect David results in her capture, which clues Faraday in on David's value to Arasaka.
  • Atomic F-Bomb: Rebecaa letting out a huge overly long "asshole!" at one point.
    Rebecca: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Batman Gambit: The "job" Faraday sends David to puts him and his friends in a situation where he has to use the cyberskeleton or die. Once Arasaka witnesses the demonstration, they can proceed to capture David.
  • Berserk Button: Lucy for David, which Faraday cruely exploits and uses to make him a weapon against Militech.
  • Beyond the Impossible: David was already at the limits of cyberware a human body could take and the cyberskeleton exceeds all of those by itself.
  • Cybernetics Eat Your Soul: The cyberskeleton is something that immediately induces cyberpsychosis but David is able to keep it in check with massive amounts of drugs as well as his love of Lucy. For now.
  • Deadly Upgrade: The cyberskeleton gives David a massive boost in his fighting prowess, but the toll on his sanity is just as significant: without a steady supply of immunosuppressants, cyberpsychosis is all but guaranteed.
  • Did Not Think This Through: Faraday may have Arasaka backing him up but, having been exposed, he proceeds to tell the man in the invincible exoskeleton that he is holding his girlfriend hostage. David vows he will get Lucy back and wreck revenge on Faraday.
  • Evil Former Friend: Kiwi becomes this when she betrays all of them for a big payday and a chance to work for Arasaka. She continues to reassure herself that you can't trust anyone in Night City.
  • Evil Plan: Faraday has arranged for the Edgerunners to become trapped by a Militech force so they're forced to use the cyberskeleton to escape.
  • Gravity Master: The cyberskeleton is such a heavy and bulky piece of chrome that it needs gravity field generators to move at all. David is also able to use the gravity field generators offensively to flatten his enemies like pancakes.
  • Heroic Second Wind: The knowledge that Lucy is in danger gives David something to focus on before his cyberpsychosis completely claims him.
  • I Have Your Wife: Faraday is eventually revealed to possess Lucy and states that he'll kill her unless David dons the cyberskeleton.
  • Kick the Dog: Faraday uses Lucy's voice to trick David into using the cyberskeleton despite its immense danger of cyberpsychosis.
  • The Mole: Kiwi's last mission with the team is to set them up to be forced to use the cyberskeleton.
  • Not Quite the Right Thing: Lucy's attempts to cover up for David actually resulted in Faraday (and thus Arasaka) becoming aware of his potential.
  • One Last Job: The Edgerunners are lured into Faraday's trap by the promise of a pay day in the millions.
  • True Companions: Kiwi mocks this attitude, though her self-assurances sound increasingly hollow throughout the episode.
