Jareau: "My blood alone remains: take it, but do not make me suffer long." Marie Antoinette.
An UnSub with a blood-related disorder bleeds his victims so he can paint with their blood.

This episode provides examples of:

  • AB Negative: The UnSub has a rare blood-related disease that makes him easier to identify.
  • Beard of Sorrow: Reid has more scruff and stubble than usual following Maeve's death.
  • Disposable Sex Worker: The UnSub doesn't have anything in particular again prostitutes, but they are convenient victims for him.
  • Heroic BSoD: Reid suffers from one throughout the episode.
  • Literal-Minded: Played for drama, as the UnSub adds his own blood to the painting after the art gallerist says he has to "put some of himself" in his art.
  • Mad Artist: The UnSub.
  • Shout-Out: Quoting Picasso.
"The world doesn't make sense so why should I?"

Reid: "Sometimes the hardest part isn't letting go but rather learning to start over." Nicole Sobon.
