Compromising Positions

Directed by Guy Norman Bee

Garcia: Abraham Lincoln said, "Whatever you are, be a good one."
In Ohio, a man who lost his prostate starts murdering couples after his wife gets knocked up by someone from the swinger club they used to go to.

Provides examples of:

  • A Real Man Is a Killer: The UnSub forces couples to have sex before killing them because he feels he lost his manhood.
  • Cover Identity Anomaly: Prentiss's attempt to play as an acquaintance of the UnSub fails when she mentions a boyfriend, since he always picked husbands for swinger parties with his wife.
  • Eunuchs Are Evil: The UnSub lost his prostate during a routine surgery gone wrong.
  • Men Are the Expendable Gender: All of the eight victims at the Swinger's Party massacre were men, with all the women surviving unharmed despite there either being more women or a 50/50 ratio. In this case, the killer explicitly has a grudge against other men, but treats the women as an afterthought.
  • Men Are Tough: Reid's aversion of this trope comes in handy, as his "non-alpha male" personality does not come off as threatening to the UnSub's wife.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Or rather manly men. Reid accurately guesses that because he's not an Alpha male, he'll have more luck gaining the UnSub's wife's trust.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: Garcia appears in more conventional attire for her trial as the media liaison.

Prentiss: "We all wear masks, and the time comes when we cannot remove them without removing our own skin." Andre Berthiaume.
