Green Light

Reid's name is partially cleared when it turns out that a more likely suspect is already-incarcerated Cat Adams through her girlfriend Lindsay Vaughn.

Tropes:

  • Call-Back: The team recalls the time in Chula Vista when they first ran into Lindsay, but do not understand why she'd come after them now.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The photo album Spencer and Diana were looking through in an earlier episode contains a clue to what is really going on. The photo we saw in episode of a linedancer over whose face a six-year-old Spencer superimposed a photo of his own face. It has been moved to another page to get attention, and Cat has written XX/XY on the back.
  • Daddy's Girl: Reid profiles Lindsay as this based on her using her father's gun to kill Cassie.
  • Daddy's Little Villain: Lindsay uses her father's gun in her hitwoman practice.
  • Occam's Razor: Invoked by the ADA, who tries to argue that "Reid was framed by a contract killer with personal ties to the team at the behest of a serial killer we've been hunting for years" is too complicated of a theory to seem plausible.
  • Oh, Crap!: Calvin's reaction when Alvez tells him he's going to be incarcerated in the same jail as a lot of the Russian gangsters he put away during his time with the Bureau.
  • Revenge: Calvin tells the other inmates that Reid is FBI to get back at him for putting laundry detergent in the heroin. In return, Luke makes good on his promise to have Calvin transferred to FC Milan for not protecting Reid.
  • Wham Line: "Cat Adams?"
