- …But He Sounds Handsome: Jason talks up the secret racer he has driving for him, saying how handsome he is. No surprise, then, that he turns out to be Jason in disguise.
- Continuity Nod: Jason uses the rideable toy car to race
- Don't Think, Feel: Craig coaches J.P. through the first half of the race, but J.P. is overwhelmed by the cart's many gadgets and ends up going off course and crashing. Kelsey then tells Craig to just let J.P. "wing it" and drive the car his way. J.P. does, and ends up winning the race.
- How We Got Here: The episode opens right before the race starts, then skips back to when it was announced.
- Minor Injury Overreaction: Craig scrapes his knee, but he and the others act like he's been crippled.

Even if he was willing and able to share, no one else wants to use the same pool as the kid who wears swim trunks he found in the garbage.Kelsey: Well, that pool's ruined.
- Shout-Out: Jason's racing outfit and helmet are similar to that of Speed Racer. His going as Racer J references Racer X, Speed Racer's brother in disguise. The narration he does by himself also spoofs the narration style of the original English dub.
- Victory Is Boring: Cannonball never lost a race before, but is glad when he does.Cannonball: The curse is finally lifted.
