Go To

Faye, a former Human Popsicle, tracks down one of the doctors who woke her up and stole her identity. However before she can, eco-terrorists under the leadership of Maria Murdock, arrive and steal the doctor away before he can implicate the person he works for; they also steal Faye's ship. Desperate, she goes to Spike and Jet, as Murdock has a massive bounty on her head. Meanwhile Julia gives Vicious the idea to start a coup in the Red Syndicate, starting with getting in contact with a fellow Syndicate leader, Mao Yenrai.

Tropes

  • Adaptational Karma: In the anime, Harrison was unfairly turned into a monkey just because of a slight slip-up with an ISSP spy that the gang managed to take care of. Maria singled him out just because he was the first to speak. Here, Harrison's the one that delivers the final retribution to Maria, with her own weapon no less.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: After her missile plan fails, Maria is resigned that Harrison and she will be thrown in jail. Harrison, whom Maria belittled through the episode, refuses that and instead primes a grenade with the chemical weapon.
  • Body Horror: The chemical weapon Maria makes turns her victims into trees, demonstrated when Harrison accidentally drops the grenade and the CEO they were threatening ends up breathing it. To say the least it's not a pretty sight.
  • Call-Back
    • Spike is contemplating the bullet he didn't put in Vicious in the previous episode. He quickly puts it away when Jet turns up.
    • Julia sees Ana has Spike's favourite booze out, so Ana claims she was just feeling nostalgic.
  • Conscience Makes You Go Back: Faye regains her ship and even gets the location of the head of the cryo-freeze crime ring, Whitney Hagas Matsumoto, and has the opportunity to abandon Ganymede, along with Spike and Jet, to it's fate. Instead, she uses her ship to intercept Murdock's missile.
  • Fake Static: Faye posing as Witney's accomplice trying to set up a meeting. It only works for so long.
  • Fanservice: When Julia comes to talk to Ana, Gren is instructing a lingerie-clad dancer with the help of a sax player.
  • Freudian Threat: Faye to Witney's accomplice.
  • Designated Girl Fight: Faye and Harrison get into one in the climax while Spike and Jet deal with the other subordinates.
  • Gender Flip:
    • Harrison was a guy in the anime. Weirdly, the female version keeps the name.
    • Likewise with Witney (though she's only heard here, not seen).
  • Groin Attack: Harrison gets the better of Faye in their fight by kicking her in the crotch. But as she does so, the doctor's phone, which Harrison kept, falls out of her coat pocket, so Faye ultimately gets what she wanted.
  • Hero Stole My Bike: Faye steals Spike's ship (as well as Ein to Jet's chagrin) and uses it to locate her own.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Faye uses her ship, which has no weapons, to intercept the missile Maria shoots at the planet. Luckily she survives.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Twofold to Maria. 1) She really should've treated Harrison better and 2) probably shouldn't have left one of her chemical grenades around either.
  • Lady in Red: Faye wears a very sexy red dress when she approaches the doctor. The ensuing events mean she's stuck wearing it for the rest of the episode.
  • Mythology Gag: When Faye sees Ein, she ask if he's for eating. Spike suggested this in the anime when they took the dog aboard the ship.
  • Oh, Crap!: Spike and Jet when they see the missile Maria fires on the planet.
  • Properly Paranoid: Spike and Jet instantly locate Faye after she steals the Swordfish. When asked how as she disabled the tracker, Jet says that was just one of them and Spike is very protective of his ship.
  • Ramming Always Works: Faye's ship has no guns. It has to take down a missile.
  • Running Gag: "The Cosmonaut" joke between Spike and Jet. Faye tries to get them to spill what that's about, but even in the end, she's never told.
  • Soylent Soy
Jet: Miss! The popcorn-shrimp; is it shrimp-shrimp or fake-shrimp?
    Waitress: It's an algae-soy hybrid.
Jet: Okay, we'll just get the potato skins; and you still have that two-for-one deal?
    Waitress: With a coupon.
    Jet: Okay, two rib-eye dinners.
Spike: Are you sure it's real and not an algae-soy hybrid?
  • Transflormation: The Callisto Liberation Front use a spore-dispersing device designed for terraforming as an improvised terrorist weapon. It's not a pleasant experience, though it is played for Black Comedy.
Newsreader: According to eyewitness reports, the toxic gas turned people into...trees? (turns off-camera) Are you serious with this? Oh shit, that's nutbags!
