Affectionate Nickname: Under his kindlier persona, the Burglar likes to call Eustace and Muriel "Uncle Twinkle Toes" and "Mama Mashed Potatoes" respectively.
Mood Whiplash: The burglar and his split personality is a walking example of this. One instant, he's a big, menacing home intruder who angrily demands the Bagges be tied up, and the next, he's a kindly (if confused) man who thinks the Bagges family are his relatives. The whiplash part is, he's just as capable of going from the sweet man to the cruel burglar at the drop of a hat, making him a ticking time bomb for trouble at a moment's notice.
Save the Villain: Towards the climax, the burglar is about to be caught by the authorities, but Courage finds it in himself to save him on the basis he's just a confused man who needs help.
