"Old Lady Bickleigh had quite the collection of paper bags."

A Plot: Brent starts feeling self-conscious about going bald, so Lacey insists on helping him. Her help, however, just makes Brent self-conscious about how his hair smells.

B Plot: Wanda buys a lamp at an estate auction that she knows is very valuable. There's only one problem: Emma recognizes it as her lamp and wants it back. Emma's sappy attempts to pull at Wanda's heartstrings become a moot point when Hank ruins the lamp's value.

C Plot: When Oscar is disgruntled by the Ruby's new plate sizes, Lacey tries to prove she's not short-changing him on food and drink. Oscar then misjudges her demonstrations as magic tricks.

Tropes Referenced:

  • Captain Oblivious: Oscar simply cannot grasp the fact that Lacey is still giving the same food portions, just using different size plates or cups. Any attempt to explain it results in Oscar thinking it's a trick.
  • Doom It Yourself: This is Brent's opinion of Hank's skills. Hank tries to prove him wrong.
Hank: I'll fix it for you.
Brent: What's that gonna cost me?
Hank: I'll do it for free.
Brent: I mean the inevitable fire, what's that gonna cost me?
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Hank, seeing Brent pull all the milk out of the cooler (due to it needing a new cooling unit):
Hank: Not sellin' milk anymore? It's a good idea. You'll sell more pop that way. Smart.
Brent: You've never given anything a second thought, have you?
  • Hypocritical Humor:
Emma: What more could one ask for? Health, happiness...
Oscar: That's right. I got no complaints.
[Lacey brings out Oscar's sandwich on a larger plate than usual]
Oscar: What the hell is this?
    • Lampshaded a moment later when Oscar tells Emma to check the portion size of her soup and she says, "My soup level's fine, Mr. No Complaints."
  • Insistent Terminology:
Brent: If I say yes, will you stop preening me?
Lacey: I wasn't preening. I was primping. Preening you do to yourself.
  • Literal Metaphor: Hank tries to fix an electric fan but ends up putting the blades back on it backwards, causing it to suck in air instead of blow air.
    Brent: Your fan literally sucks.
  • Motor Mouth: Karen expresses her dissatisfaction that the auctioneer isn't one of these.
  • Not Helping Your Case: Though Lacey insists that Brent's hair is exactly the same after using her shampoo (and it certainly looks that way to the viewer), other characters mock him for how fancy they think it looks and smell his head trying to find out where the mango smell is coming from.
    Fitzy: Hey, Curly. Nice coif!
Brent: "Coif"?! That's worse than "hairdo"!
  • Police Are Useless:
Emma: So you can't straighten this out for us?
Davis: As far as I know, possession is nine-tenths of the law.
Karen: That's not the law. That's just some old adage.
Davis: You got any newer adages?
Karen: Is that part of the "finders keepers, losers weepers" law?
Emma: So the lamp is mine.
Wanda: You're the weeper. I'm the finder keeper.
  • Prematurely Bald: Brent becomes concerned about it, owing to Lacey pointing it out for him.
  • A Rare Sentence:
Brent: Apparently every person in town is taking shots at my head.
Lacey: Well, don't let gossipy geese get your goat.
Brent: ...I'm gonna need a second with that one.
  • Shout-Out: Lacey mentions Sherlock Holmes in the Cold Open while solving the "mystery" of Brent having hair in his soup.
  • Sidetracked by the Analogy:
Brent: I'm going bald, Hank. These things are like lemmings.
    Hank: Lemmings go bald?
Lacey: Lemmings follow each other off cliffs and jump to their deaths.
Hank: Just because they're goin' bald? That's a bit drastic.
  • Unwanted Gift Plot: Though technically not a gift, Davis tries very hard to get rid of the mounted fish he bought at auction, but no one wants to buy it off of him.
Hank: I can take that off your hands for ya. 20 bucks.
Davis: Really?! [shakes his hand] Done. [hands over the fish and starts to leave]
Hank: Whoa, hey! Uh, you gonna owe me the 20 or...?
    Davis: What do you mean?
Hank: To take this to the dump.
Davis: I thought you were buying it.
Hank: [bursts out laughing] Yeah, right!
Davis: [angrily takes back the fish and leaves]
Hank: Okay, so... I'll be back later for that 20, then?
  • What a Piece of Junk: Several characters comment on how ugly the elephant lamp is. Wanda plays along because she knows it's actually a very valuable piece.
  • Worthy Opponent: Emma and Wanda see each other as this at the end of the episode, having a mutual respect after trying to con each other out of the lamp. How they both feel about Hank rewiring it, however...
