"Just in case you're jonesin', I've locked up the Sudafed."

A Plot: When the usual Bingo night caller gets injured, Wanda fills in and everyone loves her. Everyone, that is, except for Emma, who's winning streak has been busted. It turns out the original caller had a crush on Emma and let her win.

B Plot: Lacey introduces home-baked cookies to the Ruby, but is surprised to find that people prefer the packaged "road cookies" sold at Corner Gas.

C Plot: Karen is suspended from DRPD and starts hanging out at Corner Gas with Brent, which leaves Hank looking for a new best friend.

Tropes Referenced:

  • Amusing Injuries: Fred, the original Bingo caller, falling off the stage.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Brent reading the list of road cookie ingredients:
Brent: "Fatty triglycerides, tartaric acid, dipotassium phosphate, pecans"... [disgusted] Ew, pecans.
  • Brick Joke: Davis has his hat stolen by a small boy. Later, Hank sees the boy wearing the hat, and greets him as "Officer." Then, at the end of the episode, Karen asks Davis where his hat is, though he doesn't want to talk about it.
  • Comically Missing the Point:
Hank: So, where do you think people go to the bathroom in an igloo?
    Davis: You mean Inuit.
Hank: Oh, sorry. So, where do you think people go to the bathroom in an Inuit?
Davis: No, no. The people are Inuit, and they don't live in igloos anymore.
Hank: Oh, right! [beat] 'Cause it's summer.
  • Conveniently Timed Distraction: At one point, Emma calls Brent to help Oscar fix the plumbing, which forces him to leave Wanda in charge of Corner Gas even though it's Bingo night. A monkey wrench in Emma's purse reveals she set this up intentionally so Wanda wouldn't be the bingo caller, but the plan is foiled when Wanda asks currently-jobless Karen to manage the store for a while.
  • Dissimile:
Brent: Road cookies are like an old miner, you know. On the outside they're gritty and tough as nails, but on the inside they're soft and sweet and gooey.
Lacey: [mockingly] Much like a miner.
    • Happens again when Karen starts describing why the road cookies sell better, and Lacey makes the old miner comparison, which disgusts Karen since you can't dip miners in coffee.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Hank treats Brent hanging out with Karen like a lover seeing someone else. He starts hanging out with Davis to make Brent jealous.
  • Humble Pie: Lacey's overconfidence in her homemade cookies moves her to announce to everyone at the Ruby that they can stop hiding their road cookies and eat them openly at their table. Cue every single person doing just that, causing a cacophony of crinkling wrappers.
Lacey: [incredulously] You hear that? That's the sound of coffee goin' up a buck.
  • If Only You Knew: At the end of the A Plot, Wanda is initially upset when Fred returns to the job, but a comment from Emma humbles her and has her admit that Emma is selfless in comparison...despite Emma knowing at this point that Fred (who Emma forced back despite him still being in casts) rigs the game in her favor, and that everyone else loved Wanda, to the point where the huge crowds that were helping to add money to the charity pot all leave when Fred returns.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: When Karen returns to her job from her suspension, she's glad to get back to the hustle and bustle of police work...and then she and Davis immediately recline their car seats for a nap.
  • The Jinx: Oscar is convinced that Wanda is one, starting with her appointment as new Bingo caller causing Emma to lose Bingo for her very first time.
  • Love Confession: Fred confesses to Emma that he has a crush on her... and that, because of this, he rigs the Bingo games so that she always wins.
  • Mistaken for Junkie: Karen fails a drug test due to an allergy medication.
  • Nutritional Nightmare: This is how Lacey views the chemical-laced packaged cookies that everyone in town loves.
  • Replacement Scrappy: In-universe, this is how Emma views Wanda as the new Bingo caller. Mainly because Fred has a crush on her and deliberately called her numbers so that she would always win.
  • Seinfeldian Conversation: Hank tries to discuss with various people about where people who live in igloos go to the bathroom.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Brent does this near the end of the episode with regards to Lacey's cookie problem.
Brent: I don't know why you're knockin' yourself out, Lacey. Why don't you just sell these same kind of cookies over there?
Lacey: You'd be fine with that?
Brent: They're cookies, Lacey. I'm not givin' you my bone marrow.
  • What the Fu Are You Doing?: Wanda breaks a mop trying to mimic a Jet Li movie. Later, when asked to watch over the gas station, Karen re-breaks the same mop in the same way.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: This is Lacey's reaction to Brent's insistence that he can't reveal who buys road cookies as it would ruin "customer-gas station attendant confidentiality".
