"You're smart, pretty, we have lots of fun together... as far as I know we're not related in any way..."

In this episode, all plots are tied to the characters trying to reach the Grey Cup, travelling in groups of two.

A Plot: Lacey and Brent are on their way to the game when they run out of gas. Too prideful to get help, Brent goes out in search of gas, while Lacey secretly calls a tow truck. After being stranded out behind a farm house, the two have a "moment", but are interrupted.

B Plot: Oscar and Hank take some time to stop by Oscar's old buddy's house, but are shocked to find that he's dead. Oscar decides to help himself to the guy's belt, until he's caught and they're thrown in jail.

C Plot: Davis and Karen make it all the way to the stadium, but can't find their tickets. In an attempt to buy tickets from a scalper, Davis accidentally solicits an officer posing as a prostitute and is hauled in.

D Plot: Emma and Wanda stop for some dollar store shopping before the game. They run into trouble when Emma is accused of stealing a bracelet, something Wanda had cheaply bought her as a Christmas gift.

In the end, none of the groups actually make it to the Grey Cup. Not willing to admit this, they all lie to each other by saying they saw the game and it was great.

Tropes Referenced:

  • Almost Kiss: Between Brent and Lacey
  • Convenience Store Gift Shopping: While her and Emma are perusing the dollar store before the game, Wanda admits that she does most of her Christmas shopping there. Emma immediately gets suspicious about the bracelet she’s wearing, which was Wanda’s Christmas present from the previous year.
  • How We Got Here: The episode opens with everyone at The Ruby, remembering their Grey Cup trip.
  • It's Always Spring: The bulk of the episode takes place in and around Regina, Saskatchewan on November 16, 2003, the date of the Grey Cup final game that year. Since the show is filmed in the summer, the trees are green and leafy and the weather is depicted as warm enough to only warrant light jackets. However, in real life, daytime temperatures that time of year in Regina are often below freezing and the trees are mostly bare by then.
  • Literal-Minded: Davis thinks a glove compartment should only be for gloves, and other things should never be put inside it.
Karen: I'd hate to think what you'd keep in a handbag.
  • Mistaken for Racist: One of the only times Davis's race is actually mentioned on the show.
Davis: Well, I'll have to go to a scalper.
Karen: Isn't it weird for you to go to a scalper?
Davis: Why? Because I'm a Cree man? I resent that.
Karen: Because you're a police officer and scalping tickets is illegal.
    Davis: ...Oh yeah.
  • Never Mess with Granny: When the dollar store cashier accuses Emma of stealing her bracelet, she slugs him in the mouth, and looks ready to attack again when he threatens legal action. Wanda has to diffuse the situation by offering the guy their Grey Cup tickets.
  • Road Trip Plot
  • Robbing the Dead: Oscar and Hank stop in to see one of Oscar's friends (because he owes Oscar money), only to find him dead. Oscar helps himself to the man's nice belt, making up a story about how he said he wanted Oscar to have the belt when he died. Hank later adds funny hats to the story.
  • Shout-Out: The episode title is likely a reference to I Love Lucy.
  • Undercover Cop Reveal: Davis's attempt to buy tickets from someone he thinks is a scalper combined with his ambiguous wording gets him arrested when she turns out to be a cop working undercover as a prostitute. She gets very offended when Davis tells her that she didn't look very much like a prostitute to him.
Undercover Cop: [threateningly] Are you saying I don't know my job?!
    Davis: [nervously] N-no, I didn't... I mean... y-you look very trashy.
    Undercover Cop: Thank you.
