A Plot: Wanda creates her dream video game, but Brent and Hank butt in with their opinions on what a good game should be.
B Plot: Lacey and Karen, realizing Davis never seems to get angry, offer to help him release his pent-up stress.
C Plot: Oscar and Emma break out the crokinole board, but find they have trouble remembering how to play.
Tropes:
- Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Oscar and Emma eventually realize they never actually liked playing crokinole, they liked getting drunk and making up their own rules to the game.
- Captain Obvious:Lacey: "Hungry" is one letter away from "hangry", which has the word "angry" right in it. You ever notice that?
Karen: [bluntly] Yeah. That's what that is. - Comically Missing the Point:Lacey: Think of all that stress building up in him with no outlet. I had a cousin who had a heart attack at 40 because of stress.
Karen: Wasn't he the one who worked as a bacon tester? At the pork factory?
Lacey: Yeah, and when his doctor made him quit smoking, the stress killed him. - Continuity Nod: Oscar still complains about younger generations, as seen in episode "Key To The Future" of the live action series.Oscar: You Gen-Xers, you've always got your nose in a computer. In my day, we played games on tables made of solid oak, face-to-face, like real men.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Seen as the opposite of Davis, the others point out that Lacey has anger issues. She denies it at every turn while illustrating their point for them.
- Incredibly Lame Fun: Wanda's original ideas for her game include things like filling out forms and fighting bureaucratic red tape. Though she thinks these are great ideas, Hank and Brent are much less enthused.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall:Karen: You never get angry.
Davis: I get angry.
Karen: No, you don't. Looking back, I can't think of a single episode.
Davis: Episode? Like a TV episode?
Karen: Like an incident. A specific situation.
Lacey: That is a weird way of phrasing it. - Medium-Shift Gag: When Wanda shows off her newly created video game characters based on Brent and Hank, they have the real-life faces of actors Brent Butt and Fred Ewanuick, rather than animated ones. The animated characters think they look horrifying.
- Mundane Made Awesome: The episode ends with Wanda and Brent just playing Pong instead of making a video game. When Brent complains that it lacks character and plot, Wanda encourages him to use his imagination, so he pictures himself as an ogre and Wanda as a dragon...in Corner Gas playing Pong. It helps.
- No Plans, No Prototype, No Backup: After Davis finally hits a Rage Breaking Point playing Wanda's game, he smashes her laptop in anger. As she hadn't uploaded back-ups anywhere else, Wanda decides to call off the project entirely.
- Rage Breaking Point: Lacey and Karen intentionally try to drive Davis to this. He finally loses it while playing Wanda's game.
- Shout-Out:
- Wanda's game title, Grain Theft Ogre, pays homage to Grand Theft Auto.
- In the Cold Open Hank, Brent and Wanda have a debate about the various movie Batman actors and their infamous costume nipples.
- Davis when realizing he doesn't get angry:
- Stealth Insult: When Hank and Brent want to play Wanda's unfinished game:Wanda: Well I do need to get it beta-tested, and you guys are about as beta as it gets.
