  • Anguished Declaration of Love: When she gets arrested, Numbuh 3 yells to Joe that she loves him. Joe is surprised and asks if she meant it. Numbuh 3 tells him that she didn't, but it seemed like the appropriate thing to yell given the situation.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: But it amounts to All for Nothing.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When Hoagie takes his detective hat out, it seems like the story is going to be another noir episode with him as the star. Then he gets arrested by the safety patrol, leaving Kuki as the episode's star.
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: Parodied when Oliver is surprised Numbuh 3 isn't interested in what his real plan was, so he decides to explain it anyway, even in front of the safety patrol officers that were about to take her away (and had just told to arrest themeslves as well). The reason his plan is foiled anyway is because he finds out too late what was really for lunch in a humiliating fashion.
  • Comically Missing the Point: The entirety of the episode is Numbuh 3 playing the detective in Numbuh 2's place, and being oblivious to the events in front of her left and right.
  • Didn't Think This Through: It never went through Oliver's mind to maybe pull off the scheme on the same day the cafeteria would be serving pizza bagels instead of a random day, as he poorly assumed pizza bagels are always available.
  • Downer Ending: Pretty much everybody gets a sad ending. The heroes and innocent bystanders are locked away for false reasons, and the true villain gains nothing out of it if not a broken heart as he cries and cries.
  • Inspector Javert: Numbuh 3, who doesn't even pay any attention to the serious case of kids getting arrested without probable cause, instead being more concerned with coloring her United States map overtly caring too explicitly over which color pertains to which state.
  • Karma Houdini: Played with. Oliver never faces any repercussions for getting all his classmates wrongfully thrown into detention. However, despite all his efforts to get pizza bagels to himself, he realizes he miscalculated and the cafeteria is serving lima beans instead. All the same, his bad karma leaves him sobbing over his equally bad luck.
  • Meaningless Villain Victory: Oliver manages to arrest all the children and be first in line for the school lunch... but it turns out they're not serving pizza bagels today, the one thing he wanted. Instead, all he gets is a lima bean sandwich.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Oliver does succeed with arresting everybody in school to make himself the only one left in line for lunch... but surprise, surprise! They only serve his favorite, pizza bagels, sporadically and must be waited for till next week. Today's lunch is a lima bean sandwich.
  • Useless Protagonist: Numbuh Three, being an Idiot Hero who has no interest in the crime investigation whatsoever (only caring about coloring in her map of the United States for social studies class) and ultimately she lets the bad guy win through inaction. Or, considering it ends up a Meaningless Villain Victory with two other safety patrol officers also witnessing Oliver's Motive Rant, she inadvertently Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: To Minority Report.
