- Academic Alpha Bitch: Valerie seems to be a pre-teen version of this, going by her pride in being a "really good, smart, honour society student" and her animosity with Numbuh 5, the only other academic rival in her class. However her attitude doesn't win her many points with the rest of her class, all of who look bored to tears while she's reading out her exemplary social studies report.
- Bait-and-Switch: When Numbuh 5 and 2 hear Numbuh 4 screaming, they see him crouched on the floor. At first, it looks like Valerie's dog is such a vicious monster that it bit off his arm. Instead, it's revealed that he screamed because he found her dog... adorable!
- Brown Note: Numbuh 4's homework has this effect on people.
- Cassandra Truth: Numbuh 5 tries to explain to Mrs. Thompson that a dog indeed did eat her homework, but from her viewpoint, her star student is using the oldest excuse in the book.
