Recap / Code Prime - R1: Rebellion, 16 "Battle for Narita"

Go To

In Narita, the Alliance, along with the Japan Liberation Front, fight the Britannian forces led by Cornelia. But just as victory draws near, the Decepticons arrive to turn the tide.

  • Casting Gag: One of the fights features Kyoshiro Tohdoh vs. Starscream. The author even lampshades it at the end notes
Iron117Prime: Steven Blum vs. Steven Blum. LOL.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Megatron single-handedly decimates a dozen Black Knight and JLF Burais when they attempt to charge in and kill him.
  • Death by Adaptation: Claudio is the Sole Survivor of the Glaston Knights in canon. Here, he's cut down at Narita by Tohdoh, ironically making him the first of the Glaston Knights to die.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: This chapter marks the beginning of C.C's new character arc to become a much more open and healed person.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Naomi Inoue, who led said unit from above, clearly underestimated Megatron's brute force. Optimus manages to save her in time.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Kewell is canonically fried by Kallen using her Radiant Wave Surger. Here, he's bisected by Arcee.
  • Internal Reveal: Kallen learns that Lelouch is Zero earlier than the canon final episode.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Thundercracker may follow Starscream, but even he points out that Suzaku's poor mental health is a potential handicap to his fighting abilities, especially after this battle.
  • Punch Catch: A Vehicon effortlessly catches a punch thrown at it by Tamaki in his Burai.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Joseph Fenette is able to avoid being crushed in the mudslide. However, he's last seen in the presence of Shockwave and Soundwave.
  • Wham Line: Very unlike Code Geass, in her unconsciousness, C.C. mumbles in joy, "Cera. You finally used my real name."
  • Worthy Opponent: Megatron is delighted to finally clash with Optimus Prime after fifty years of the Autobot leader hiding from the public eye.
  • You Talk Too Much!: Tohdoh says this to Starscream after knocking him across the battlefield, since the Deception had spent their entire battle boasting about himself. It's also funny given that both characters are voiced by Steve Blum.
