Recap / Code Lyoko S 4 E 7

Go To

For some time now, XANA has been targeting either Jeremie or Aelita in his attacks. This worries Jeremy: if ever the two of them become incapacitated, Ulrich, Yumi and Odd would never be able to use the Supercomputer on their own. While Aelita goes to the final round of auditions held by the Subdigitals, Jeremie tutors his—reluctant—friends how to run the computer. But suddenly, an attack from Xana knocks Jeremie unconscious. With Aelita also absent, Ulrich, Yumi and Odd have no choice but to manage on their own…

This episode contains examples of:

  • Blush Sticker: Four times, all happening to everyone but Odd:
    • Ulrich and Yumi when the swimming pool incident is mentioned by Odd.
    • Jérémie after Aelita kisses him on the cheek.
    • Aelita in reaction to being asked by Yumi what the name "Big fat cheese head" means, which is the codename for the delayed virtualization program Aelita often uses, specifically the one that sends them to the Mountain Sector.
    • Aelita and Jérémie when the the attack at the school gymnasium is mentioned.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Odd was sleeping during Jérémie's whole computing lesson, yet he manages to flawlessly virtualize Yumi at the perfect spot, right in time to save Aelita from William.
  • Call-Back: The events of Opening Act are referenced, which itself continues on from Aelita's love for DJ-ing in Final Mix.
  • Forced to Watch: While in a paralyzed state of fear, Yumi and Ulrich watch as Jérémie is electrically knocked out by the polymorphic specter.
  • Harmless Electrocution: While XANA's spectres or possessed victims are regularly shown shooting electricity at the Lyoko Warriors, this is a notable example in that the specter electrocutes Jérémie directly with a live wire from the Supercomputer. Jérémie is knocked unconscious, but appears to be perfectly fine afterwards.
  • Hopeless with Tech: When he's on the mission control, Ulrich makes multiple mistakes: he notably downloads the Overbike while he was supposed to give Odd the Overboard, and it appears on the enemies' side!
  • Impairment Shot: When Jeremie wakes up from the electric shock, his friends shift in and out of focus.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Odd is forced into secrecy about the swimming pool attack (involving Odd, Yumi and Ulrich) and the school gym attack (involving Odd, Aelita and Jérémie).
  • Look Behind You: Subverted. Odd attempts this with the specter by pointing in a random direction and walking off, but while its shadow seemed to indicate it fell for it, it grabs Odd one second after.
  • The Men in Black: The spectre created by XANA fits this mold, wearing a suit and tie and black shades.
  • Missing Mission Control: The whole plot is based around this; Jérémie teaches the crew to use the Super computer, in case him or Aelita are M.I.A for whatever reason. Jérémie initially, being attacked by a spectre assuming the form of The Men in Black. This subsequently happens to everyone, including Ulrich (though in his case, he virtualised himself).
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Yumi gets tossed around by the Man in Black while Aelita, Ulrich, and Odd are on Lyoko. However, thanks to Odd being intentionally devirtualized, she avoids being beaten to death.
  • Noodle Incident: Two of XANA's previous off-screen attacks are mentioned; the first one that occurred at the swimming pool, and the second one that occurred at the school gymnasium. What happened in those two attacks isn't revealed; only that mentioning the swimming pool attack causes Ulrich and Yumi to blush; mentioning the gymnasium attack causes Jérémie and Aelita to blush, that Odd is the only person to know what happened at both attacks, and that both pairs made Odd promise to not to mention the attacks to the other pair. Whatever happened in these attacks, nobody's talking, and it's embarrassing for both parties.
  • Shoot the Mage First: Jérémie notes that most of XANA's recent attacks have been targeting him or Aelita, the only two that know how to use all of the Supercomputer's functions. This pushes Jérémie to teach Ulrich, Odd and Yumi how to use all the Supercomputer's functions as well. It ends up being useful when Jérémie is electrically shocked unconscious.
  • Shout-Out: At one point, Odd refers to the specter as "Specter Gadget".
