Recap / Code Lyoko S 4 E 21

Go To

The rest of the gang of Lyoko Warriors has had it up to their ears with Odd’s dog, Kiwi. The pup is apparently only good for destroying or fouling other people’s belongings. Despite Odd’s protests, they reach a common decision to banish the dog for several days in the factory… Meanwhile, as Yumi and Ulrich are at their Penchak Silat class, Xana takes possession of the “other” Kiwi: Kiwi 2, … Jeremy’s robot dog, now programmed to attack!

This episode contains examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: While trying to escape the Kiwi 2 robots, the actual Kiwi jumps on the Supercomputer keyboard and accidentally reloads Odd's laser arrows, allowing him to fight off XANA's monsters. Odd makes sure to give Kiwi credit for saving the day. Lampshaded by the episode's French title, Kiwi Superstar.
  • Barrier Warrior: Aelita is shown to be able to combine two Energy Fields together to cancel out the force of William's Sword Beam.
  • Call-Back: XANA possesses and creates duplicates of Jérémie's robot Kiwi 2, which he created for the robotics competition back in season 1's The Robot.
    • Yumi is also shown using the passage from Kadic's boiler room to access the sewers, a sequence that was shown multiple times in season 1, but very sparingly afterward.
  • Decoy Getaway: Aelita uses her time-tested trick to escape William, although this time, she cites inspiration from the multiplying Kiwi 2s.
  • Friendly Fire: Aelita accidentally devirtualizes Odd, who was running behind her actual target, William.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jim's reaction when he unintentionally insults Yumi's Japanese culture by saying "stupid Japanese mangos" (actually meaning to say "manga" or perhaps "anime") and she gives him a Death Glare.
  • Never My Fault: Odd makes a string of excuses for why Kiwi isn't to blame for ruining the group's belongings (such as peeing in Ulrich's bed when Odd forgets to take him out, chewing on Jérémie's books, burying Aelita's bedroom items in the schoolyard and forcing her to dig it back up or ruining Yumi's new shoes). The group finally has enough and forces him to discipline Kiwi by making him stay in the factory for two weeks.
  • Robot Dog: XANA's enemy of choice against the Lyoko Warriors in the form of Kiwi 2.
  • Self-Duplication: Xanafied Kiwi 2 is able to create multiple copies of itself.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Downplayed. The only reason Sissi and Johnny attend Jim's martial arts class is because their crushes Ulrich and Yumi would also be there. Yumi lampshades what a coincidence it is that Sissi showed up to a class that is normally just her and Ulrich, but Sissi insists she wanted to learn the sport. She then proceeds to badly mispronounce the class name and shows absolutely zero skill, even for a beginner.
  • Shipper on Deck: Hiroki expresses his desire for Yumi to date Ulrich and how much he looks up to him. He embarrasses the two by saying how much he tells his sister to date Ulrich and she "pretends she doesn't want to". Cue the two blushing tenfold.
  • You Watch Too Much X: When Yumi and Ulrich reveal to Jim the truth about the supercomputer in order to get out of the school, they get this reaction from him.
Jim: Craziest story I've ever heard! You watch too many stupid Japanese mangos!
    (Death Glare from Yumi)
Jim: Uh, can you prove any of this true?
