Recap / Code Lyoko Evolution E 6

Go To

English Episode Title: Suspicion — French Episode Title: Soupçons

The Lyoko Warriors take the Skid to collect data from the core of the Cortex.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Delmas in the Original series wasn't exactly ugly, but he was a fairly old man with grey hair and glasses. Evolution Delmas is significantly younger and more attractive, and looks nothing like his animated counterpart, which is a little weird, when you consider the rest of the cast do have similar features to their animated counterparts, but here? Delmas has nothing, not even a beard.
  • Blatant Lies: Yumi can't get anyone to attend the relief party because of this reason. Only Remi comes to help set up the party, and it's quite clear from his body language that he's nervous around Yumi.
  • Call-Back:
    • This episode marks the first appearance of Jims' Running Gag of his past jobs and life exploits that he'd rather not talk about. In this case, he was once a groupie for the Rocking Stones when they toured Europe, and as usual, he'd rather not talk about it.
  • Continuity Nod: Odd finally gets to ride the new and improved MMRASTCV (or Multi-pod as Jérémie calls it), after Yumi stole his spot a few episodes prior.
    • Jim being a groupie and he'd rather not talk about it, a return of his Running Gag from the animated series.
    • Events of the second episode of Evolution are referenced, as to how to get into the core.
    • Events of Final Round are once again referenced, in that everyone reassures Aelita that Franz Hopper, her father, was a good guy, and not responsible for creating the new super computer.
  • Everyone Has Standards: After being antagonistic towards Ulrich since the start of the episode, William talks to Ulrich about Yumi's supposed bossiness and gives him some relationship advice.
  • Expy: The Rocking Stones are clearly a Writing Around Trademarks variation of The Rolling Stones.
  • Gaia's Vengeance: Yumi stays behind because of a natural disaster that struck Japan and wiped out her cousin's school, and wants to throw a relief party for donations in the Gym. The catch is that it's for the same night. note
  • Evil Doppelgänger: At the Gym, there are now three Remi's, thanks to XANA.
  • Malevolent Architecture: The Core has soundspikes that look like decoration, but are actually some sort of defense mechanism. Odd and Ulrich get devirtualised because of it, and later William too when he helps Aelita to safety.
  • Mundane Utility: XANA fixes the sound system, something which Yumi seems to find slightly amusing.
  • The Reveal: Franz Hopper created the new supercomputer it seems, but Aelita doesn't want to believe Jérémie initially. She spends the rest of the episode inside Lyoko shouting for her father to explain (to no avail), and stays in the desert sector as it's peaceful, and wants time to think. Jérémie does promise to get to the bottom of this mystery.
  • Tranquil Fury: Yumi towards Remi when he breaks the sound system.
