After Suzaku resigns his position as the Purple Paladin, the team must scramble to save him after the Kyushu port is put under siege.
- Adaptational Intelligence:
- Subtle but present with Suzaku, as unlike in canon, he does seem to figure out that Schneizel is using him as a decoy to break through Sawasaki's forces. Not that he cares.
- Adaptation Distillation: Canon had the Battle of Kyushu happen after the events of Kamine Island. Here, it's the reverse.
- Adaptation Expansion: Lelouch has a brief conversation with Tohdoh, the Four Holy Swords and Kaguya that did not happen in canon, where he asks them about Sawasaki and if he can be trusted. They all make it clear he is a Dirty Coward and advise the Black Paladin to not ally with Sawasaki's forces, as they are likely puppets of the Chinese Federation. Afterwards, Lelouch has a private conversation with Tohdoh regarding Suzaku's Patricide.
- Anguished Declaration of Love: As in canon, Euphie makes one to Suzaku when it looks like the latter is about to die.
- Big Damn Heroes: Just as Suzaku is about to be cut down by Gun-Rus, the rest of the Paladins swoop into the fray.
- Hidden Depths: It turns out that Yoru is willing to accept Nunnally as a temporary pilot.
- Honor Before Reason: Subtly implied to be the case with Nunnally - she is briefly able to pilot Yoru, the Lion associated with Honor, when the Paladins go to rescue Suzaku.
- Secret Secret-Keeper: Euphemia's internal monologue when she looks over a picture confirms that, as in canon, she figured out that Lelouch is Zero, but is intentionally staying quiet about it.
- Shipper on Deck: All of the Paladins make it clear that they are supportive of Suzaku having a relationship with Euphemia. Even Lelouch gets in on it, laughing when Coran asks Suzaku to tell him if the Purple Paladin plans on proposing to Euphie soon.
- Ship Tease:
- Suzaku and Euphemia get a fair amount of teasing here, with Euphie giving him a hug upon finally seeing him again, and later giving him a Love Confession during the eponymous battle, which Suzaku reciprocates.
- Rai and Shirley also get some teasing, with the former comforting the latter after she killed Mao and assuring her that she is still a good person.
