Go To

Tyrone and Tandy turn to questionable allies in their attempt to find and stop the villain behind the trafficking ring. Meanwhile, Tandy learns more about Lia's past.

  • And Then What?: Tyrone asks Tandy what she wants to do with Andre as soon as they find him. She isn't able to answer yet.
  • The Bus Came Back: Solomon, the kid from the Uptown Block Kings who pulled a Heel–Face Turn, returns and helps Ty setting up a meeting with the gang bosses.
  • Canon Character All Along: Lia's full name is Avandalia, who is an agent of D'Spayre in the comics.
  • Continuity Nod: Solomon and Tyrone talk about Luke Cage, specifically they are seen reading an article named "Luke Cage in Harlem Rumble", written by none other than Karen Page.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Lia, appropriately driven there by Andre, who has completely drained her.
  • Destroy the Evidence: Adina is seen cleaning the crime scene of Connors' murder.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Initially, Mayhem is quite shocked to see Tandy so willing to kill Lia for revenge. After finding out that Lia too has been a victim of Andre, the roles are reversed, with Tandy wanting to protect her from Mayhem murdering her.
  • Exact Words: When Ty asks his mother about Connors, she tells him that he is "filling in the blanks" and that he is "not giving her any trouble", while not mentioning the inconvenient fact that she murdered him.
  • Flashback: A good portion of the episode spends on Andre's past. We see him playing in his old jazz band, his headaches getting worse, his attempted suicide and him gaining his powers, with him getting to know Lia shortly after. After quickly manipulating her into coming with him, they are seen starting the therapy group.
  • A God Am I: Even before he gained his powers, Andre had a god complex.
  • High-Altitude Interrogation: Tyrone intimidates two gang bosses by meeting them on a roof top and constantly pushing them off it and teleporting them back.
  • Internal Reveal: Ty sees his mom sitting next to a pile of blood-soaked newspapers, feeding them to a fire, and no Connors in sight. He knows that she killed him.
  • Journey to the Center of the Mind: Tyrone and Tandy enter Lia's mind in order to awaken her. They witness how Andre got to her and even see her as a child, when she used to be good.
  • Mass Hypnosis: Andre is on the verge of hypnotizing the entire town at the end.
  • Motive Rant: Andre delivers one to Tandy and Tyrone.
  • Never Learned to Read: Solomon can't read.
  • No, You: Andre tries to turn it back on Tandy when she calls him out on his abuse. Given that she has abused her powers in the past, it's painful, but holy shit is it not the same.
  • Not Quite Dead: Turns out Lia isn't dead, but in a coma.
  • Revenge: Before learning about her past, Tandy is willing to kill Lia for what she did to her.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Tandy feels for Lia after realizing how Andre dragged her down his dark path.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Downplayed, as Mayhem only half-heartedly tells Tandy to back out of the investigation, but realizing that she won't do it, she then takes her with her.
  • Title Drop: Early on in the episode, Andre and a band member discuss whether he'll be able to hit the Blue Note.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Lia is portrayed as just another victim of Andre throughout the episode.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Tandy encounters a memory of Lia as a child playing the cello in front of her parents, noticing how hopeful she used to be back then.
  • Wham Line: Andre's memory inside Lia's head suddenly talking back to Tandy and Ty.
  • Wham Shot: They manage to stab Andre, but then the camera pans out and all his victims have disappeared.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Solomon sees Luke Cage as his personal idol, seeing himself as no hero. Ty then reminds him that he saved his mother.
