Recap / Chuck S 5 E 10 Chuck Vs Bo

Go To

Bo Derek: I don't like to kiss and tell, but your friend rocked my world one magical night in November.
Morgan: Seriously?
Sarah: Seriously?
Casey: Seriously?

Morgan's time with the Intersect compels Chuck and Sarah to take on a mission in Vail and enlist the help of a famous actress. Jeff and Lester continue their own spy mission.

This episode provides examples of:

  • As Herself: Bo Derek guest stars as herself. As the title suggests. Also, she's a spy.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: Quinn was tortured for over a year after Chuck ended up with the Intersect instead of him, and is now, well, crazy and obsessed with getting revenge on Chuck.
  • Call-Back: The episode has Team Chuck trying to find out what Morgan did on a weekend in Vail while the Intersect was screwing with his brain.
  • Cliffhanger: Chuck is kidnapped by Quinn. Sarah is forced to upload the Intersect to get her and Casey out of a trap.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: So many times.
    • Morgan is approached by a guy named Dale who seems weirdly interested in his relationship with Alex. Alex chases him off and explains that after Morgan dumped her by text, she "acted out, physically," and not just with Dale. Morgan is horrified, especially by the revelation that Dale made "rainbows shoot out of [her] body."
    • Sarah is not amused that Bo Derek, Chuck's teenage crush, is involved with whatever Morgan did in Vail two months earlier. Especially when she saves Chuck and Morgan from Bo by giving her a Tap on the Head, and Chuck's reaction is to ask if she damaged her face.
    • Averted when Morgan tells Alex what happened between him and Bo Derek in Vail. She clearly thinks he's making it up out of insecurity, but manages to keep the smirk off her face as she agrees that they're even.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Sarah uploads an Intersect - the same kind that damaged Morgan's brain - when she and Casey are pinned down by Quinn's men.
  • It's Personal: Quinn was the CIA agent who was meant to have the Intersect before Bryce Larkin stole it and gave it to Chuck. He went back out in the field and was captured and tortured for over a year, which he now blames on Chuck. It certainly doesn't help that he went into business for himself, with clients including Fulcrum, The Ring and Volkov Industries... all defeated by Team Chuck.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia:
    • The X-13 gas Casey uses to erase the last 24 hours of Jeff and Lester's memories... three times.
    • It was also used on Morgan two months earlier by Bo Derek.
  • MacGuffin: Two months earlier, Morgan hid a set of Intersect glasses somewhere in Vail after being drugged by Bo Derek. Team Chuck, and Bo, are trying to find the glasses fast.
  • Running Gag: Jeff and Lester being tranqed, dosed with amnesia gas and left in a crashed car with Las Vegas paraphernalia. The scene where they wake up and find themselves in the car plays out three times, word for word, but with an increasing number of vultures on the windshield. In the final version, Big Mike swings by to give them a ride, but instead proposes that they go to Vegas for real.
  • Shout-Out: In a Memento homage, Jeff and Lester write clues to what they've found out on their arms before forgetting it all.
  • Similar Squad: As a gag, the Nerd Herd at the Buy More in Vail, CO has employees who mirror those of the Burbank Buy More, including "Big Michelle" and an unnamed Nerd Herder who looks like a female version of Lester. (One of the background employees is the red-faced employee from Burbank wearing a big wig, as well as an older man with a weird resemblance to Jeff.)
  • Squee: Chuck and Morgan are flabbergasted to run into their mutual teen crush Bo Derek, and to find out that Morgan had a fling with her. And that she's a spy.
Chuck: Hi, Bo Derek. I'm Chuck. My name is Chuck. Really big, big fan. Just loved "10" so, so much!
    Morgan: We really do!
Bo Derek: Yeah, I know what you did with that poster.
  • Spotting the Thread: Chuck and Casey leave Jeff and Lester in a crashed car with Las Vegas memorabilia and no memory of what happened, hoping they'll chalk everything up to a wild weekend. However, Jeff keeps noticing that Lester's breath doesn't smell of alcohol, meaning it's all fake.
  • Tempting Fate: Sarah just can't stop saying "one last mission!" to the guys' distress. Finally, Chuck says while on the phone to Sarah that their last mission went okay after all... only for Quinn to knock him out and kidnap him.
