Luo Binghe: To sacrifice myself for you is my greatest honor as your disciple.
Shen Qingqiu: Let me tell you then. Nothing will happen to you even if I die. Trust me on that.
Shen Qingqiu: [thinking] You have complete invincibility. Of course nothing will happen to you.

Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe get captured by the culprit of the murder case, and Shen Qingqiu has to find a way to get him and his disciples out of the situation alive.

  • Adaptational Modesty: The novel described that Shen Qingqiu was stripped until he has only his trousers on, meaning he was shirtless. In the donghua, he still has his undershirt on. However, his dismayed reaction still makes sense, since an esteemed cultivator being stripped of his outer robes is already considered scandalizing enough.
  • Apologetic Attacker: When Shen Qingqiu refocuses the Skinner Demon's attention on Luo Binghe, Shen Qingqiu repeatedly mutters "I'm sorry," under his breath since he feels terrible about his Batman Gambit.
  • Batman Gambit: When the System informs him that only Luo Binghe has immunity from any life-ending threat due to being the In-Universe protagonist, Shen Qingqiu convinces the Skinner Demon to attack Luo Binghe. Before she could land a hit on the boy, the System sends a strike of lightning to make a beam fall and knock her out.
  • Blatant Lies: When Shen Qingqiu gives Luo Binge a real cultivation manual to replace the fake one Shen Qingqiu gave him, Luo Binghe asks why. Shen Qingqiu fibs that it's because his current manual isn't suited to his physicality, so he's giving him a different one.
  • Call-Back: After the case with the Skinner Demon is resolved, Shen Qingqiu notes that he has to report what happened to Yue Qingyuan when he gets back since Yue Qingyuan is a "quest-giving NPC".
  • Contrived Coincidence
  • Covert Pervert: Implied. After Shen Qingqiu tells Luo Binghe and Ning Yingying to not look at him, he catches the former disciple attempting to peek again and scolds him for it.
  • Determinator: Shen Qingqiu observes that Luo Binghe is persistent in trying to learn the skills from a fake cultivation manual, even noting that had it been anyone else doing the same thing, they'd have gone mad by now.
  • Don't Look At Me: Played for Laughs when Shen Qingqiu tells Luo Binghe and Ning Yingying to avert their eyes since he's underdressed.
  • Easily Forgiven: Shen Qingqiu lampshades that even though he set Luo Binghe up, the latter quickly got over what happened with just a few words of encouragement and some assurance.
  • Exact Words: Shen Qingqiu isn't lying when he tells the Skinner Demon that he had nothing to do with the falling beam. While he was counting on Luo Binghe's Plot Armor to save them, it was the System that made the beam collapse on the demon.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When the Skinner Demon plans to take Ning Yingying's body, Shen Qingqiu casually mentions that she would be doing better with a body that has a golden core... which also happens to be him at the moment. When the demon's attention turns to him, Shen Qingqiu belatedly realizes with horror that he just made himself a target.
  • Freak Out: Shen Qingqiu has a small one when he realizes that he was captured, bound, and stripped down to his inner robes.
  • Jump Scare: The episode ends with one when a berserk man suddenly charges at Shen Qingqiu , with the episode ending right at a close-up of his face.
  • Please Put Some Clothes On: After the Skinner Demon is defeated, Luo Binghe nervously gives Shen Qingqiu his robes with this trope in mind.
  • Shameful Strip: When he comes into consciousness, Shen Qingqiu realizes that his robes were taken off and he's left in his underclothes.
Shen Qingqiu: Why am I the only one who got stripped?! This storyline is so shameful!
  • Sherlock Scan: Shen Qingqiu managed to figure out the Skinner Demon's identity by looking at where he is and by observing that the Skinner Demon (who was concealed in smoke at the time) has a female figure, allowing him to conclude that the culprit is Lord Chen's concubine.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Lampshaded by Shen Qingqiu right before he deals the killing blow on the Skinner Demon.
Shen Qingqiu: I don't want to hear the cliche dialogues of a villain's motives right before their death!
  • Tamer and Chaster: Shen Qingqiu's last words to the Skinner Demon before killing her were more vulgar in the novel, since he asked her how sleeping with an old man felt like. In the donghua, it's changed to a "Shut Up, Hannibal!" Pre-Mortem One-Liner instead — which is lifted from part of Shen Qingqiu's internal monologue in the novel.
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill: Shen Qingqiu kills the Skinner Demon by striking her with a qi-charged blow, causing her to flow hundreds of feet back at a high velocity before she eventually crashes into a stone bridge. The System congratulating Shen Qingqiu for completing the quest confirms the Skinner Demon's demise.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After struggling to act without triggering the OOC alert for the past two episodes, Shen Qingqiu's completion of the Shuanghu City quest rewards him with the removal of the OOC restriction, which now gives him full control of his character.
