While sailing across the ocean, Commander Thorson and Laffey take rest. The former decides to use the time to research on everything about the full history of Kansen, learning not only about the accomplishments that have been made but also the horrors the shipgirls had to endure.
Thorson searches throughout the ship before discovering Laffey's poor living conditions. Feeling sympathetic, he takes her to his room and the two learn about each other once Laffey wakes up.
This chapters contains the following tropes:
- Bad Bedroom, Bad Life: The problem with Laffey's room is that there is literally NOTHING in her room; except only a matress and her bag of bourbon.
- Classified Information: Much of the files about the Kansen. Most of which for a good reason.
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?: To Thorson's horror, he learns just how bad the situation with the relationship between humanity and Kansen really is after reading an entire file about the Ironblood Kansen being horribly experimented on.
