At the Halliwell Manor, Piper, Leo and the children are posing for a family portrait when the Avatars suddenly appear. They warn Leo of someone who has information regarding the Avatars which could bring the Charmed Ones into alliance. Leo is taken to a Seer named Kyra and saves her from being killed by demons. Upon bringing her to the Manor, the sisters realise Kyra is a demon and attempt to harm her but Leo convinces them not to.

The faction of demons who plan to kill Kyra are doing so because she betrayed her kind. One of them plans to release Zankou, a powerful rival of the Source however a second demon argues that the Source had imprisoned Zankou for a specific reason.

Darryl arrives at the manor, no closer to finding Sheridan and still suspicious that Kyle is involved. He asks Phoebe to scry for Sheridan and gives her a pen that she used before going missing.

Meanwhile, Kyra makes a list of demands, one of them being the wish to be turned human. Piper is wary of her and believes that she doesn't have information at all however when demons attack, she decides that's enough of a sign that Kyra is truthful in her intentions.

Phoebe begins bonding with Kyra as she goes through family albums. They discuss the gifts they hold with regards to powers of premonition and visions. Kyra takes the pen from Phoebe and they discover that Sheridan is lying in a coma in hospital. Kyle eventually admits that he did put Sheridan in that situation but it was to protect the Charmed Ones from being exposed as witches.

In the Underworld, the gang of demons release Zankou. He immediately vanquishes a shapeshifter demon and takes its powers before leaving.

Back in the manor, Phoebe takes Kyra's hands and has a vision. She sees herself her two nephews and a daughter in a world where demons no longer exist. This is shown to be down to the Avatars. As the vision continues, Phoebe senses the universe is a utopia. When she releases Kyra's hand, she has a premonition of Zankou vanquishing Kyra. Phoebe and Piper are now more open to the Avatars being a good entity which is when Leo reveals that he, himself, is also an Avatar.

Leo and Phoebe orb to the Magic School where she shows an Elder her vision. The Elders are sceptical and think it's a trick but Phoebe manages to convince them to change Kyra into a human.

In the manor, Kyra is making herself ready to change into a human. She's talking with Piper and tells her her name. Phoebe arrives and convinces Piper to leave them alone. That's when 'Phoebe' shapeshifts into Zankou who then kills Kyra. Leo orbs in with the real Phoebe just as Kyra dies.

Piper and Phoebe, tired of the constant demon attacks, decide they are willing to talk to the Avatars.

Tropes

  • And I Must Scream: Zankou was entirely conscious throughout his imprisonment. He reveals he was also aware of the wider world, such as how the Source is now dead and the coming Avatar threat.
  • Brick Joke: Kyra makes a joke that Paige shouldn't serve eggplant with the dinner. Later, she does serve it and Kyle reveals he's allergic.
  • Endangered SoufflĂ©: Piper has just put one in the oven when Leo approaches to tell her about Kyra. She warns him not to make it fall as he's "done enough damage for one day" by ruining the photo.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good:
    • Played for Drama with Kyra the Seer. She is a demon and cannot feel human emotions, but her visions allow her to experience them somewhat, so she wishes to be turned into a human so she can feel them properly.
    • The trope is also inverted with Kyra's example. The sisters wonder why a demon would give up her powers just for the things they as humans take for granted.
  • Eviler than Thou: The Source considered Zankou too dangerous.
  • Exiled to the Couch: Kyra can tell that Darryl's wife has been making him sleep on the couch recently. He's a little freaked out about how she knows this but then she offers him a tip on how to make up with his wife.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Darryl searches Sheridan's cleaned out office and finds a stray pen that Kyle missed.
  • Genre Savvy: Kyra sees everything coming thanks to her seer powers.
  • Given Name Reveal: Towards the end of the episode, the Seer reveals her name is Kyra.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Between the Avatar threat and the Seer turning on them to save herself, the demons are willing to release someone that even the Source feared.
  • Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow: Inverted. Phoebe's hair in the present is still short, while her future self has long hair.
  • Intimate Open Shirt: Kyle's shirt being unbuttoned like this, while Paige is still in her dress, codes that things were about to get raunchy when the demons attacked.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Zankou. He was disembodied and placed inside a beam of light.
  • Sexy Shirt Switch: Piper and Leo find Paige wearing Kyle's shirt from the night before to clarify that they did the deed.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Played straight with Kyra, a demon trying to help the sisters in return for a soul. Needlessly killed by the Big Bad before she can become human again, but after holding up her side of the bargain. And they were so close to turning her again, too. Her borrowing one of Phoebe's dresses in her last minutes showed just how ready they had gotten for it, and even caused question as to whether they actually pulled it off. This only made her vanquish even more painful.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • The sisters are quite unhappy to learn that Leo has secretly been an Avatar.
    • They're also shocked that Kyle left Sheridan in a coma for weeks.
