The show opens with a shot from the baby's point of view. Everyone is looking over his crib talking about how cute he is; he doesn't have a name yet, since Piper and Leo were expecting a girl and didn't have any boy names picked out. They would like him to have a name that will begin with "P" to keep the family tradition. Both Paige and Phoebe come up with some suggestions, but everything is shot down. Everyone is very tired, since the little guy has been keeping everyone up with his crying at night. Piper mentions that maybe they should put a sound proof spell on the nursery, but Paige tells her she can't, because it might interfere with her "Demon Alert" spell. As Phoebe leaves for the newspaper to meet the new owner, Paige heads to her room to try and get some rest. While Piper and Leo are sharing a little quality time, the alarm system goes off. Paige, Piper and Leo run to the baby's crib to find two demons trying to take him. There is a force field around the baby that he surprisingly produced, Piper vanquishes one demon, but the other gets away.

At the office, Elise is explaining to everyone that the new owner will be there soon and he is not known for being nice with his employees. Phoebe shows everyone photos of her new nephew and the new boss, Jason Dean, comes in while everyone is ogling the baby. There is an instant attraction between Phoebe and Jason, but she rushes away after they argue a little. Leo calls Phoebe to tell her about the attack. Phoebe decides that she needs to come home to help, but Jason tells her that her column needs improvement and she can't work from home like she wants.

At the manor, Paige and Piper determine the demon that got away was a "Hawker", a demon that obtains things for other demons and then sells them on the demon "black market". Paige wants to go to the black market and find out who wants the baby, Piper doesn't like that idea - mostly she doesn't like the idea of leaving the baby by himself. While they are debating what to do, the "Hawker" arrives with another demon and tries to float the baby out of the window. Piper jumps in front and saves the baby, the other demons are destroyed after Paige's crystal jail is over charged and zaps them. In Piper's efforts, her leg is broken, so she now knows that she is no longer invincible.

Before the Hawker came to the house, his clients, the Parasites, tell him that he must bring them the Charmed Ones' baby so that they won't have to feed off others, but have ever-lasting power. An old women, a Crone, tries to warn the Hawker that death will only follow, but he doesn't believe her. After the Hawker dies, he leaves a knife that Paige uses with the scrying spell to find the demon black market. There she tries to convince the Parasites that she can get the Charmed Ones' baby for them, they see through her and start to suck her witch's powers.

After being tied up with Jason, an assistant finally breaks into the meeting Phoebe is having to tell her that Leo has called several times. When Leo orbs Phoebe home, they learn where Paige has gone. Phoebe has a premonition about Paige being sucked by the Parasites. Piper decides that they need to go to the black market and destroy those who are trying to hurt her baby. Once there, the Parasites realize that since all of the Charmed Ones are at the market, no one is protecting the baby, and they go try to take the baby. Leo, however, is still with the baby and uses all of his strength to keep the Parasites from feeding on the baby. Once Phoebe and Piper reach Paige, she tells them where the parasites have gone. The sisters quickly orb back to the Manor, where Piper vanquishes one of the Parasites. Piper decides to go after the other Parasite, because she wants to make an example to others that might try and hurt her baby that the Charmed Ones will not let that happen.

At the market, the Crone is waiting for the other Parasite. She blames the destruction of the market on him, because he tried to take a Charmed One's baby. As the sisters rush in, she vanquishes him. She returns the baby's blanket to Piper and tells her that she has seen what will happen in the future and promises that no other demon will try to hurt the child.

Back at the Manor, Paige apologizes for going off by herself to try and protect the baby. After things return to normal, Piper decides on a name for her infant son: Wyatt Matthew Halliwell. His first name is for his father, second for his "very protective Aunt Paige." (her adoptive surname is Matthews), and continuing with tradition, Wyatt's surname is Halliwell since, "demons fear it, good magic respects it".

Tropes:

  • Bazaar of the Bizarre: The demonic black market that specialises in all manner of nasty magical items, powers and slaves to torture. Piper and Phoebe end up destroying most of it and the Crone takes out the last few demons herself.
  • Big "NO!": Leo, as the Parasites are about to breach Wyatt's forcefield.
  • Brainy Baby: Wyatt uses his powers to deliberately set off the demon alarm because he realized it was a way of getting attention.
  • Brought Down to Badass: Now that Piper has given birth she no longer has the added protection of the baby's forcefield making her basically invulnerable. She can still kick ass with her usual powers, but she has to adjust to being vulnerable to injuries again.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • On Piper's request, Paige surrounds the house with apples and sage as a protective measure. The sisters learned this trick when they travelled back in time in "All Halliwell's Eve".
    • Paige psyches herself up to enter the demonic market by reminding herself that the sisters fought fairytales earlier this year.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: The remaining Parasite isn't simply blown up by the Crone; he is enveloped in a mini-tornado of sorts and made to feel intense pain, as he is slowly crushed and turned to dust.
  • Cruel to Be Kind: After the first demon attack, Piper wants the baby taken "up there" for absolute security. The Elders immediately send Leo back to the manor with the baby, saying the family has to prove to themselves that they can take care of the new addition like Patty and Grams did.
  • Crying Wolf: Because Wyatt deliberately set off the alarm earlier, Leo is caught off guard when the Parasites actually trigger it for real.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Done by Piper to the Demon Black Market's population. It was so brutal and extreme that the Underworld's leaders created a law specifically designed to avoid pissing off Piper again.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Because the trip to a Bad Future showed them having a baby girl, Piper and Leo never bothered to even think about a name for a baby boy. Piper is disappointed they can't go with "Prudence Melinda" as planned, but Phoebe quips such a name would get the boy beaten up by his peers.
  • The Dreaded: You know Piper is this, when the reaction of the entire Underworld to her Mama Bear's rampage is to create a law specifically designed to avoid pissing her off again.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Leo, upon figuring out that the baby has been deliberately setting off the demon alarm to get attention.
  • Hero of Another Story: The Parasites are the way they are because a witch cursed them long ago.
  • I Warned You: The Crone warned the Parasites that going after Wyatt would bring great destruction.
  • Last-Minute Baby Naming: Piper and Leo are still trying to think of a name for their child several days after he's born. The delay is justified as, thanks to Piper's trip into the future back in season 2, they were under the impression they were having a girl and as a result didn't look at boys' names.
  • The Maiden Name Debate: Phoebe briefly wonders if the baby will be a "Halliwell" or a "Wyatt". Leo accepts that "Halliwell" is significant in the magic community and should be kept.
  • Mama Bear: Piper tears up the demon black market.
    Demon: Who are you?
Piper: I'm the mother. [boom] Which one of you dirt bags put the bounty on my baby?!
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The entire underworld has one when they find out how Piper responded to a threat to her baby. They started dealing with threats to Wyatt directly just to keep her from going on another rampage.
  • Meaningful Name: Wyatt Matthew Halliwell for the reasons listed above.
  • Papa Wolf: The Parasites get the drop on Leo before moving onto Wyatt, but he manages to get up and attack them before acting as a human shield for the baby.
  • Pragmatic Villainy:
    • The Crone acknowledges that Wouldn't Hurt a Child is in the Underworld's best interests when said child is a powerful infant who will only get stronger as he grows up.
    • One of the Parasites prevents the other from finishing off Paige, saying that Phoebe and Piper will be able to track her and thus leave the baby undefended while mounting a rescue.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner:
Parasite: You have powers of your own.
The Crone: And I enjoy using them.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The Parasites.
  • Shout-Out: Phoebe suggests "Potter" as a potential name for the baby.
Piper: After seeing what this kid could do inside the womb, he's no muggle.
  • So Proud of You: Upon determining the baby has been deliberately setting off the demon alarm to get attention, the adults praise him as a little genius.
  • Trauma Button: While looking over the family tree, Paige notices her name isn't on it, which makes her think of the secret circumstances of her birth and upbringing.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: In trying to use Wyatt to restore themselves, the Parasites bring mass destruction to the demon black market. The Crone calls the surviving Parasite on this before killing him.
