Recap / Castle S 5 E 22 Still

Go To

Castle tries to distract Beckett when she's at risk of setting off a bomb.

Tropes:

  • Casual Danger Dialogue: "Oh, I brought coffee for when you're off that thing." In general, most of the dialogue between Castle and Beckett that's not immediately related to the bomb situation qualifies.
  • Clip Show: The episode is mostly about Castle reminiscing with Beckett about their past.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: In the middle of Castle's reminiscing, he gets distracted by Beckett's varying hairstyles over the course of their time together.
  • Exact Words: Castle's words after Beckett begged him to leave her rather than get blown up with her.
    "Sure I said I'd leave. Didn't say I wouldn't come back."
  • Mood Whiplash: What do Castle and Beckett think was their closest call? The time Martha almost caught them in bed together.
  • Not So Above It All: Subverted when Castle and Beckett call Esposito to ask which of them fell for the other first. He puts the phone down and lets the pair argue while he and Ryan get back to work.
Esposito: You do know I'm busy trying to save your life, right?
  • Real Time: Halfway through the episode they learn the bomb Beckett's standing on also has a timer. By the time the episode only has ten minutes left, so does the bomb.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: The end reveals Gates knew about the couple all along and was just pretending not to notice so she could maintain plausible deniability. She lets them keep their positions as long as they're professional while on the job.
  • Wham Line: Courtesy of Gates, who Castle and Beckett have been trying to hide their relationship from.
For heaven's sake, detective, just kiss the man.
  • You Called Me "X"; It Must Be Serious: "Rick. I love you."
