  • Call-Back: Neal the Eel is released from custody and retrieved by the Cleaners before Chase and Zari can interrogate him. Chase specifically compares this to Crackle disappearing before he and Julia could get to him back in "The Sticky Rice Caper".

  • Humiliation Conga: Roundabout. Not only does his scheme to frame Carmen for an attempt to steal the Crown Jewels, allowing Roundabout to steal them himself, fail; Carmen and her crew figured out that his challenge to her was a frame up and set Roundabout up to let him think that he won. Then Carmen swiped the Crown Jewels, let Chase and Zari find them in Roundabout’s office and got Roundabout arrested. Not only did Carmen beat Roundabout, she humiliated him! Even though the Cleaners rescue him, who knows how the rest of the V.I.L.E. Council will punish him for screwing up so badly?
  • Once More, with Clarity: As Shadowsan details the plot of how Roundabout was set up, it flashbacks to key points of the episode.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: When Chase exclaims about it being terrible that Carmen was captured, he tells Zari it's because they were not the ones who captured her.
  • Out-Gambitted: Team Carmen figures out Roundabout's plan and turns it around on him.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Both Roundabout and Shadowsan exchange in one before their sword fight.
Roundabout: Back in my day, I was captain of my fencing team in Oxford, you know?
Shadowsan: Back in my day, I was yakuza.
  • Sword Cane: Roundabout's cane hides a sword.
  • Title Drop: By Roundabout.
Roundabout: This is going to be a jolly good show.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: In his civilian role as Deputy of the Secret Service, Roundabout is extremely well liked and respected by his colleagues.
  • Wham Episode: Roundabout has been exposed as a thief, Chase starts reconsidering Julia's belief of Carmen being on the side of good and the Chief has decided to bring Gray in for interrogation.
