Lumpus is led to believe he's dangerously underweight, so he tries to hunt down and devour the obese lard-a-doodle to gain the needed weight.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Lumpus gets his weight gain he wanted the whole episode, only it's by being overfed chewed up worms and bird food by the lard-a-doodle. By the end of the episode he's in complete agony from the experience.
- Dramatic Irony: We the audience know that Lumpus received a camper's weight instead of his own, meaning he was never in danger of dying from being underweight.
- Getting Eaten Is Harmless: Lazlo and Lumpus survive a trip to the lard-a-doodle's belly just fine.
- Not Me This Time: Usually McMuesli's healthy food is met with derision and disgust. Here, not only does Lumpus enjoy it without complaint until he learns it's healthy, but even Nurse Leslie prescribes it for his weight loss. McMuesli was also legitimately trying to help Lumpus lose weight.
- Temporary Bulk Change: By the end of the episode, Lumpus has swollen to be as morbidly obese as the lard-a-doodle.
