Recap / Camp Camp S 4 E 3 Who Peed The Lake

Go To

During a swim day at the lake, somebody has an accident and it's up to Max to find out who the perpetrator is.

Tropes:

  • Beach Episode: It takes place at a lake, but the principle's the same: An episode where the characters have some fun together in a body of water. Nikki even refers to it as a beach day.
  • Blackmail: Done at the end; everyone in camp threatens to reveal to David that Max can't swim to force him to change his Everybody Did It conclusion to the mystery.
  • Bland-Name Product: Instead of Capri Sun, the camp gets a crate of Capri Moon delivered.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: Two of the campers who peed in the lake did so out of fear.
    • Dolph did so after Nurf threatened to beat him up.
    • Space Kid, having never swum before, got scared when he felt something touch his leg.
  • Everybody Did It: In the end, it's revealed that everyone peed in the lake except Max himself.
    • Nurf did it out of spite after his cannonball got ignored in favour of Harrison's magic trick.
    • Dolph did it out of fear after Nurf threatened him into silence for being the only witness to his own peeing.
    • Harrison did it when he accidentally made his swim trunks disappear and suddenly got exposed to the cold water.
    • Nerris did it due to laughing too hard at Harrison's accident.
    • Space Kid got scared by Harrison's swim trunks grazing his legs.
    • Gwen didn't want to go through the effort of getting out of her inflatable tube and taking Space Kid, whom she was responsible for, with her to the bathroom.
    • Preston wouldn't be able to hold it in for long enough to undo his complicated swimsuit, so he didn't even bother to try.
    • Ered had drunk too much Capri Moon earlier and failed to hold it in.
    • Nikki did it on purpose to cover up for Ered.
    • Neil did it after the warmth from everybody else's pee made him comfortable enough to let go after he had failed to get anything out before going to the lake.
  • Fainting: Preston does the Drama Queen flavour of this in the background after it's revealed that Max can't swim.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Ered burps after breakfast, foreshadowing all the Capri Moon she drank and with it, her reason for peeing in the lake.
    • When interrogated by Max, Harrison says his new trick didn't work and then stops himself mid-sentence, embarrassed. As it later turns out, this is because he doesn't want to admit he lost his swim trunks.
    • Nerris laughing at Harrison throughout the episode foreshadows how she peed in the lake: laughing too hard at him after his failed trick.
  • Luminescent Blush:
    • Neil gets this when Max reveals his pee-shyness to everyone.
    • Harrison gets a slightly less pronounced one after he accidentally makes his swim trunks disappear.
  • Hyperspace Holmes Hat: Max pulls one out when he declares himself the "camp detective". Nikki takes it from him at the end of the episode when she explains that Max would want to avoid David finding out that he can't swim at all costs, giving the others blackmail material enough to keep him from telling about their accidents.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Dolph hides in a bush to conceal his identity when giving information to Max, but makes no effort whatsoever to hide his distinctive voice and accent. Needless to say, Max is not fooled.
  • The Scapegoat: In order to escape having his inability to swim revealed to David, Max changes the result of his deduction from "Everybody Did It" to "One of the Wood Scouts probably did it to ruin our day".
  • Slippery Swimsuit: Harrison accidentally magics away his swim trunks to another part of the lake, leaving him stuck in the lake for the whole episode.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: To Murder on the Orient Express despite having neither a murder or an Orient Express. A crime is committed, Everybody Did It, and the detective is convinced to let them all go.
