Directed by Kenneth Fink

Four monks at a Buddhist temple in Vegas are murdered, showing no signs of struggle. Meanwhile, Catherine has to deal with the possibility that an old mentor of hers falsified evidence in order to catch a violent repeat-offender.

  • Actual Pacifist: The monks, instead of attempting to defend themselves, pray even as they are being shot.
  • Disappointed by the Motive: Both motive and method. Grissom spends most of the episode expecting the man who killed the monks to have had some degree of spiritual reason for stealing from the monks and shooting them in head in a spot that has great Buddhist meaning (the Sixth Chakra, between the eyes). Turns out that the thief stole the temple out of pure greed and expedience (Buddhists have no guns) and shot them between the eyes out of practicality (he even tells Grissom ”I show them between the eyes" with a notable "what the heck is this dude talking about?" reaction at Grissom talking about chakras).
  • Heel–Faith Turn: Two of the suspects for the monk murders are a racist restaurant owner and his gangster son, but the latter had actually befriended the monks and attends a prayer service in their temple at the episode's end.
  • Karma Houdini: Catherine ends up upset at her former mentor because, while the offender did commit one murder, he did not commit the one that involved the planted evidence, and thus the true killer is never caught.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: When the CSI team asks the true culprit why he shot all the monks in their Sixth Chakra Point, located in the forehead, he replies that he was simply shooting them between the eyes.
