"Cavallino Rampante" is the 3rd episode of Season 8 and the 165th overall. It originally aired October 7, 2011.
The body of a beautiful blonde woman is found in the trunk of a stolen Ferrari. One of her sisters informs the team that the rest of their family may be in danger as well. The case leads to an international terrorist.

Tropes for the episode:

  • Blonde, Brunette, Redhead: The dead woman was blonde, and her two sisters are a brunette and a redhead.
  • Daddy's Little Villain: Two of the sisters followed their father into the car theft business; the third went to law school.
  • Disability Alibi: A perp known for his electronic inventions is considered a suspect for the string of Ferrari thefts, until the cops arrive at his apartment and discover that he's aged, quite weak, and dependent upon a wheelchair.
  • Family Business: Criminal version. Two daughters join their father as car thieves and use an invention he makes especially for them to break security codes.
  • Lipstick-and-Load Montage: In the opening, two of the sisters appear to be getting ready to go out on the town, but they're really getting ready to boost a car.
  • Password Slot Machine: The girls crack into the Ferraris' keypads with a fancy electronic decoder. They time themselves using it, trying to gain entry in under 10 seconds.
  • The Precious, Precious Car: Played for Drama. The sisters steal a fancy red Ferrari, not realizing it belongs to an international terrorist, and chop it for parts. The man tracks them down and threatens to kill them if they don't return it pronto... with all the original parts back in place.
  • Siblings in Crime: Two of the sisters worked together stealing Ferraris and selling the parts to make a living. When one is killed, the other keeps at it, but begins being reckless so she gets caught.
  • Visual Title Drop: The title is Italian for "prancing horse" or "rearing horse" and refers to Ferrari's emblem which is shown on several of the stolen vehicles.
