Mac & Co. are called to the scene of an apparent suicide, only to discover that the person who called it in is a detective from Barcelona who is insistent that it is a case of murder. Meanwhile, the dead man's girlfriend seems to know more that she's letting on.
Tropes for the episode:
- It's Personal: The detective eventually reveals that the deceased is his nephew... and that his sister, the young man's mother, is a government official on her way to NYC from Spain.
- Jurisdiction Friction: Mac clashes with the other detective over who is in charge and the more he learns about the man's relationship to the victim, the more he threatens to throw the man out of the crime scene.
- Never Suicide: Inverted. Although the young man's uncle and especially his mother are adamant that he did not kill himself, it turns out that he had asked his girlfriend to dispose of the weapon he uses - in other words, he wanted his suicide to look like a murder.
