"Criminal Justice" is the 12th episode of Season 6 and the 129th overall. It originally aired January 13, 2010.
Stella interrupts a trial in progress when the team discover that the defendant may have been framed. The team must find other means to convict the perpetrator. Meanwhile, Danny's badge is stolen while he is getting an acupuncture treatment for his still-ailing back.

Tropes for the episode:

  • The Bait: Lindsay protects the sole eyewitness from a murderous perp by going to the young woman's apartment at night, dressing in a bathrobe with her hair in a towel, and watching tv on the couch with her back to the door. When the knife-wielding assailant breaks in and tries to sneak up behind her, she jumps up with her service weapon drawn on him.
    Lindsay: Expecting someone else?
  • Just One Little Mistake: The person trying to frame someone else might have gotten away with it, except they didn't realize that Sheldon had already sprayed for footprints at the scene, and the chemical he used got on the BOTTOM of the planted evidence, proving that it was placed there after the fact.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: The evidence planter wants the team to find fingerprints to learn his wife's lover's name so he can off his rival.
  • Wood Chipper of Doom: A variation. The perp fed his victim (and the man's dog) through a snowplow in an attempt to hide his crime, thinking that he couldn't be charged with murder if there was no body to be found.
