"Point of No Return" is the 18th episode of Season 5 and the 110th overall. It originally aired March 18, 2009.
Former M.E. Marty Pino's wife is found dead in a cheap motel room. Stella and Det. Angell continue hunting for the Greek antiquities thieves.

Tropes for the episode:

  • Bulletproof Vest: Played with. Upon arriving at a crime scene, Danny discovers he forgot his vest. Mac and Flack, knowing the suspect is present and has a gun, armor up and go inside, telling Danny to stay by the SUV. There is the sound of gunfire. Danny draws his weapon and goes inside. He exchanges fire with the suspect - and does not get hit, but he mortally wounds the suspect and gets a dying confession.
  • Flashback: Scenes of Marty in autopsy during season 2 are shown, particularly him walking Danny thru a procedure while he was in the panic room in "Trapped."
  • Human Resources: Marty is discovered to have been extracting drugs from the organs of dead junkies in order to pay off his gambling debts.
  • I Lied: Stella tricks one of the coin thieves by luring him to a container in a shipping yard, then telling him if he cooperates, she won't ship him to Greece so the authorities there can arrest him. He cooperates, but she and Angell lock him in and send him off anyway. He screams, "We had a deal!" Her last words to him are, "I lied."
  • Organ Theft: Marty is revealed to have been stealing organs from the bodies he autopsied. After being fired from the morgue for cheating on his time card, Marty resorted to murdering junkies in order to procure more organs.
  • Painful Body Waxing: The episode opens with lots of screaming... turns out to be coming from a waxing party in a room two doors down from the body.
  • Smithical Marriage: Arriving at the scene of Anabel Pino's murder, Mac asks Flack if any of the other motel guests heard anything. As part of his summary, Flack states that "Mr. and Mrs. Smith in the room next door" had rented the place by the hour.
  • That's an Order!:
    • Mac says this word for word, albeit calmly, when he tells Danny to stay outside during an arrest because Danny doesn’t have a bulletproof vest.
    • Mac finds out about Stella's pursuit of the antiquities thieves and tells her to stand down because she's too personally involved, then says he'll handle the case himself because he knows how important it is to her. When she begs him to let her stay on the case, he replies that, as her friend he'd love to, but "This is me being your boss; that's a direct order."
  • Tricked into Another Jurisdiction: Stella and Angell trick a perp who has diplomatic immunity in the US into a container in a shipyard, lock him inside, and send him off to Greece... where he's wanted for smuggling.
  • Wait Here: Danny accidentally leaves his bulletproof vest at the Lab, so Mac tells him to stay with the vehicle while he and Flack go after a suspect. Naturally, circumstances lead to Danny's involvement anyway.
