Recap / Bull S 6 EP 3 Bull Undone

Go To

TAC represents Jackson Martin, a man charged with his high school ex-girlfriend's murder after a docu-drama television series called When Rich Boys Kill depicts him as the prime suspect in the decades-old homicide. The situation worsens when Jackson's alibi, that he went to The Hamptons with his brother Billy, turns out to have been falsified.

  • Accidental Murder: When Billy eventually confesses to Bull, he claims that he confronted a drunk Sarah after she broke up with Jackson, and mistook her confiding in him as romantic interest that led to him leaning in for a kiss. This led to her trying to push him away, but losing her balance in the process, falling and fatally smacking her head against a concrete sidewalk.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Despite Billy being the younger brother, Jackson tells Bull that Billy was always there for him, and always eager to protect him, including being the one to suggest the false alibi...which is when Bull starts suspecting that Billy might be the one directly involved instead of Jackson.
  • Engineered Public Confession: In the episode's climax, they convince Billy to be interviewed by the host of When Rich Boys Kill supposedly to defend his brother, but actually so the host can pick apart the alibi and implicate Billy, followed by Bull (wearing a wire) asking for the full story when Billy panics in a bathroom.
  • Revealing Cover Up: Both Jackson's brother and father have gone out of their way over the years to protect Jackson from legal action. When TAC uncovers that Jackson had an injury at the time of the murder that would've prevented him from committing it, Bull realizes that if they didn't really need to protect Jackson, then the only logical reason for all that defense was to cause a distraction and prevent fingers from being pointed at Billy.
  • Show Within a Show: When Rich Boys Kill, the docu-drama series that covered the murder of Jackson's ex-girlfriend Sarah.
