Tropes

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: For how grumpy he is, Kamek is shown to actually care about Bowser and the Koopalings when he goes to Mushroom City Tower and saves them.
  • Badass Bystander: King Boo, Dedede, Camilla, the Charging Chucks and King Whomp all help the Koopalings defeat the Shadows.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Kamek saves the Koopalings by defeating Wart's four major mooks.
  • Book Ends: This season began by showing how Bowser met Princess Peach and introduced us to Tyson's cronies. It ends by telling us what happened to Peach and why she hasn't shown in the present, as well as marking Mouser, Clawgrip, Fryguy and Triclyde second appearance.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Wart uses the Purple star in order to hypnotize Bowser into serving him, stealing the building's money and the star while making the king seem like the bad guy. Seeing his kids again and smelling beer makes him snap back into reality though.
  • Bullying a Dragon: Junior decides to badmouth the Shadows while everyone is captured. Cue Mouser throwing the brat out of the window.
  • Butt-Monkey: Boy, does A. Byzmal get it in this episode...
  • Destination Defenestration: Underwood has Bowser Jr. thrown out of an open window after he insults him. He somehow manages to survive.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Wart's major motive for dethroning Bowser and vanquishing the royalty by pinning all of the blame of the heist on Bowser is that he wouldn't allow him to build some factories on Dark Valley.
  • Eye Scream:
    • King Boo has a hammer thrown at one of his eyes by one of the members of the Shadows.
    • Camilla sprays her perfume on a mook's face.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Iggy modifies his cuffs and now he is able to turn invisible, tase people and shoot tranquilizer darts.
  • Happy Flashback: The episode opens up with Larry dreaming about the time Peach read him and his siblings a story.
  • Hostage Situation: The Shadows take over the Mushroom City Tower and held everyone in the party hostage.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Wart seems to have gotten away... Then Bowser reveals he’s called up some friends of his to arrest the frog.
  • Locked Out of the Loop:
    • Larry regarding the reason why Peach dissapeared from their lives so suddenly. All the Koopalings knew that she had, most likely, died in an airship crash, while Larry was told that she left for the Creeper Kingdom.
    • Wendy's friends never told her that they were going on a cruise ship alongside two other girls.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Wart is revealed to be the true leader of the Shadows and not Underwood. He set up all the party just to brainwash Bowser and steal the purple Star.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Many of the Shadows mooks are highly incompetent. One of them even calls Wart "boss" in front of everyone, blowing his cover.
Mook: "Sorry! It's my first day!"
  • Missing Mom: Princess Peach, the Koopaling's surrogate mother, is revealed to have been in an airship crash alongside Bowser when the koopalings were around six years old. Bowser was found alive, but Peach's body was nowhere to be seen and she has been presumed dead ever since.
  • Never My Fault: Clawgrip blames Bowser for ruining his life, despite the fact that he attempted an assasination on him and literally helped a power-thirsty maniac take over the kingdom, who pretty much ran it like a dictatorship, for three years.
  • Pet the Dog: Two occur at the end of the episode.
    • The Charging Chucks that constatly bully Lemmy give him tickets for their upcoming game.
    • Camilla allows Wendy to come to the Cruise ship alongside Lauren, Ally and her after her friend Kim had to cancel. Not only that, but Roy, who is attracted to Camilla, is also allowed to go with them,
  • Playing the Victim Card: Wart does this during the whole episode, playing the role of an innocent bystander to pin all of the blame on Bowser. Too bad for him, the Koopalings arrive just in time and one of his minions calls him "boss" in front of everyone.
  • The Reveal: Peach has been Dead All Along, or so it is thought as her body was never recovered from the airship crash she and Bowser were in. Larry was the only one that was not aware of it and simply thought she left Bowser and the kids.
  • Saying Too Much:
    • Ally openly talks about her upcoming weekend on a cruise ship alongside Camilla and Lauren in front of Wendy, as the two of them didn't want her to know.
    • A mook accidentally calls Wart "boss" in front of everyone, blowing his cover
  • Uncertain Doom: Peach's body was never recovered from the airship crash. She is presumed dead, but her final fate is rather ambiguous.
  • Wham Line: After Underwood claims the Purple Star as his own, Wart suddenly shoots him with a Bill Blaster, leading into this exchange that reveals him to be the true leader of the Shadows:
Bowser: "You did it! You took down the leader!"
Wart: [Chuckle] "That's what you think."
  • Would Hurt a Child: Mouser didn't think it twice before throwing Bowser Jr. out of a window of a floor that is several heights tall.
