Steven is forced to make a difficult choice when Harry's behavior continues to worsen. A new teacher, Kimberly Woods, arrives at Winslow. Marilyn tries to nurture the talent of a student whose father forces him to work after school.

Tropes present in the episode:

  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Platonic example. Scott shakes Harry's hand as he leaves Winslow, showing he doesn't truly loathe him despite all the crap he's given him over the years.
  • Batman Gambit: Kimberly executes one on her students, proving she isn't as naïve as she initially appears.
  • Fantasy-Forbidding Father: Asa's father is a sympathetic example. He makes his son work after school so he'll have a secure future. He tried to pursue his dream as a jazz musician but it didn't end well, so he's trying to spare Asa the same fate.
  • Man Hug: Steven pulls Harry into one before he leaves.
  • Put on a Bus: Harry leaves the show in this episode.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: A frustrated Harry gives his students one when they fail to complete an assignment.
  • Security Blanket: After giving Harry an ultimatum, a visibly distraught Steven pulls a large book (possibly a Bible) out of his desk drawer.
  • Take a Third Option: Scott hires Asa to help him file records. It later turns out he actually hired Asa to practice playing his violin while he does his filing.
