Harvey's collapse from a drug overdose as a result of a student prank sparks a school-wide crackdown on drugs. Milton meets a beautiful girl named Lisa who turns out to be more than she claims. Harry tries to convince a student to remain in school after his mother is jailed.
Tropes present in the episode:
- Artistic License: Harry would've very likely been suspended or fired for dope-slapping Jamal twice. However, all he gets is a chastising call of his name from Steven.
- Big "SHUT UP!": Harry screams one to his students after they laugh at his opening their "gift" to him.
- Call-Back: Steven mentions Susan Potter's sexual bribe in "Chapter Four."
- Dope Slap: Harry does to Jamal twice, the first time for stealing body parts from the morgue and the second for his smart-ass remark.
- Freak Out: Harry has one after his students gift him a prank Christmas present.
- Internal Reveal: Lisa isn't a Harvard student; she attends Winslow. Milton is the only one who finds this out.
- Intoxication Ensues: Harvey acts crazier than usual after drinking coffee laced with ecstasy.
- Non-Giving-Up School Guy: Harry, towards Juan (again). Juan drops out of school to raise his siblings after his mother is jailed. Harry tries to persuade him to finish his senior year. When Juan is adamant, Harry reports the situation to Social Services, who break up the family. Juan is outraged, but later agrees to complete his schooling.
- Promotion to Parent: Juan Figgis aims to drop out of school to raise his siblings after his mother's arrest. Harry reports the situation to Social Services, splitting the family up.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Harry chews out his students something fierce after they gift him a prank Christmas present.
- Tampering with Food and Drink: A student, Kelly O'Toole, slips ecstasy into Harvey's coffee as a joke. This prompts Steven and Scott to launch a crackdown on drugs.
- Teacher/Student Romance: Subverted, then played straight. Milton and Lisa hook up with Milton thinking Lisa is a Harvard senior. Then it turns out Lisa is a student at Winslow.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Juan is not pleased that Harry reported him and his siblings to Social Services.
