An escaped convict is found dead in a residential sewer, but evidence proves that his death occurred within prison walls. Despite being extremely close to her due date, Brennan insists on solving the case- which leads to her going into labor and a very untraditional arrival of their baby daughter.

- Artistic License – Chemistry: "You can take vinegar and evaporate it down to acetic acid." Vinegar is acetic acid. If you evaporate off some water, you just get more concentrated vinegar, which is the same as saying more concentrated acetic acid. It's like saying "You can take salt water and evaporate it down to saline solution".
- Away in a Manger: It wasn’t at Christmas but Brennan did give birth in a barn because there was no room at the inn.
- Dead Guy Junior: Brennan and Booth name their daughter Christine, after the former’s late mother.
