Evil tech genius Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds) resurfaces before a parole board seeking release, and the recent appearance of a new victim ( a former friend of Brennan's) has the team working overtime to prove Pelant's guilt. However, all the evidence instead points to Brennan as the killer, forcing her and Christine to go on the run.

Tropes

  • Couldn't Find a Pen: Ethan wrote a huge cypher in his own saliva because he wasn't allowed a pen.
  • Downer Ending: Brennan has been framed for an assassination by Pelant, who managed to falsify proofs of both electronic and physical kinds, and the Squints and Caroline have no choice but to report. In the end, Brennan runs away with Christine, and Booth can only see how his girlfriend and daughter leave him.
  • Season Finale: The show's seventh. Brennan goes on the run after Pelant frames her for murder.
  • Taken Off the Case: Serial killer and longtime nemesis Christopher Pelant manages to implicate Brennan in the murder of a former colleague of hers who made schizophrenic threats towards her and Booth's daughter. Brennan and Booth both get taken off the case due to the personal connection, and the new agent assigned takes Sweets (for his bias towards the pair) and Caroline (since she received a sum of money from Brennan's account) off the case. This forces Brennan to go into hiding with her father and daughter.
