One of the Scotland Yard investigators is murdered, leading the American to now investigate two murders possibly connected to each other. Meanwhile, Angela and Hodgins continue to have relationship problems regarding their marriage.

- Face–Heel Turn: Vera Waterhouse is genuinely innocent of any crime in her first appearance (Yanks in the UK part 1). and helps with the investigation, but ends up murdering Ian Wexler, apparently as an unpremeditated crime of passion, between this episode and (Yanks in the UK part 2).
- Multi-Part Episode: The second half of a two-hour special in which Booth and Brennan journey to the UK.
- Toilet Seat Divorce: After being a solid couple for a season and a half and avoiding a lot of chances to fall out over minor issues Angela and Hodgins suddenly break up over a day or two of awkwardness.
- Use Your Head: Ian was injured by a headbutt. A crewer on his team tries to do the same to Booth, only to fall down and complain Booth "has a head like a boulder".
- What You Are in the Dark: Ian was happy to accept a bribe when there was nothing to protect, but when it turned out his site was in fact a bronze age historical site, he was going to return the bribe and do the right thing.
