Go To

Todd organizes a surprise wedding for Pickles and Mr. Peanutbutter, but the party quickly goes off the rails when Mr. Peanutbutter makes a confession.

Episode Tropes:

  • Bathroom Stall of Overheard Insults: During their fight, Mr. Peanutbutter and Pickles diss their friends and family — many of whom are hiding in their house within earshot.
  • Bottle Episode: All of the episode takes place in Mr. Peanutbutter's house. To be clear, it's Mr. Peanutbutter's house the house, not Mr. Peanutbutter's House the show.
  • Breather Episode: One of the few episodes to play its drama in a mostly lighthearted and inconsequential manner and, more importantly, to have a genuinely happy ending.
  • The Bus Came Back: Several old characters return albeit with mostly minor roles, most notably being Captain Peanutbutter, J.D. Salinger and Virgil Van Cleef.
  • Closet Shuffle: All of the surprise party's guests wind up having to stay hidden in awkward spots while Mr. Peanutbutter and Pickles argue.
  • Easily Forgiven: Played with. It takes a lot from Pickles, but she eventually forgives Mr. Peanutbutter for cheating on her with Diane. However, she wants to cheat on him so they'll call it even, to which Mr. Peanutbutter agrees.
  • Friend to All Children: Todd's interactions with Ruthie convinces P.C. to hire him as her new nanny after losing her latest one.
  • Friendship Moment: BoJack convinces Diane that she should move to Chicago with her new boyfriend because her sticking around in LA out of concern for him would make their relationship more of a hostage situation rather than an actual friendship.
  • Glass-Shattering Sound: Pickles can scream at such a high pitch that she's able to shatter glass.
  • Good Adultery, Bad Adultery: Pickles forgives Mr. Peanutbutter for cheating on her with his ex-wife twice without telling her right away...if she can cheat on him in exchange.
  • Here We Go Again!: Pickles' parents call her at the end of the episode, with her and Mr. Peanutbutter oblivious to the fact that they'd overheard all the insults the latter had flung at them earlier. Mr. Peanutbutter says, "Fun! Put them on speaker!" before the credits roll.
  • Internal Reveal: Mr. Peanutbutter tells Pickles about his infidelity. It goes as well as you'd expect.
  • Oblivious Guilt Slinging: Diane goes to Mr. Peanutbutter's surprise wedding to tell BoJack she's moving to Chicago, when she gets there he's trapped in a boring conversation with Captain Peanutbutter and when he sees her he grabs her and tells her never to leave him.
  • Smart House: Mr. Peanutbutter's house seemingly has voice-automated everything, from lights to making boba tea. Lampshaded; it's even called the Robot House. Exploited by BoJack and Diane when they give Mr. Peanutbutter advice to make him go away by pretending to be sentient appliances.
  • Straying Baby: To further complicate hiding from Mr. Peanutbutter and Pickles in their own home, Ruthie quickly vanishes upstairs, and the other main characters have to shuffle around Mr. Peanutbutter and Pickles to find and keep her. Luckily, the current situation makes Pickles extremely oblivious to the goings-on.
  • Surprise Party: Todd plans a surprise wedding for Pickles and Mr. Peanutbutter, and invites all their friends! ...Except Mr. Peanutbutter has just confessed that he cheated on Pickles, so the wedding guests have to hide around the house instead.
  • Take That!: Todd claims that he can do funny voices for Ruthie's bedtime stories "unlike Carlotta, who does voices like Cameron Diaz did a voice for the Shrek movies."
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight:
    • After Pickles and Mr. Peanutbutter have cooled down, the other characters simply walk out the door and say goodbye despite all their efforts to stay hidden during their fight. The couple never questions how they got in or what they were doing, Mr. Peanutbutter just shrugging it off as "odd."
    • Nobody on Pickles’ live stream chat notices the random people hiding behind her back, save for one viewer who asks, "Did I just see a cat?"
  • Who's on First?: While BoJack was asking Diane why she is leaving for Chicago, he says it's probably due to a guy and asks what's his name. Diane tells him it is Guy, but BoJack thinks she is just confirming it's about a guy and asks for his name.
  • Your Makeup Is Running: Pickles' mascara starts flowing after Mr. Peanutbutter confesses that he cheated on her. She even lampshades it to her followers — to want a post-cheated-on look, you want a mascara that really runs.
