Chapter 38: More

Moments after the Team Z vs. Team Y game ends, Kuon watches Team Z celebrate their victory unable to believe that they pulled it off. Kunigami then comes over to convince Kuon to celebrate with them, which Kuon doesn't feel he deserves it. Despite Kunigami assuring him it's okay, Raichi then comes over to make it clear that he still hasn't forgiven Kuon for the betrayal stunt. However, Raichi also admits that they probably wouldn't have won had Kuon not taken a Red Flag to stop Nagi from scoring, which he offers a friendly handshake to Kuon. As Kuon's about to take Raichi's hand however, Raichi proceeds to punch Kuon in the face. Raichi yelling that the punch is to settle the score, which the rest of the team agrees with. Kuon is then accepted back into Team Z as the television on the field shows off the results of the V-Z Round-Robin tournament. Along with the 22 players from Team V and Team Z passing since they were the top-2 teams, Team W's Junichi Wanima, Team X's Shoei Baro, and Team Y's Ikki Niko make it through as the losing teams' top-scorers at 6 goals, 10 goals, and 4 goals respectively.

Team Z celebrates moving on to the Second Selection, and then returns to their home room to celebrate over a victory meal. As they eat, Kuon points out that they need water, which Isagi and Bachira volunteer to fill up some water bottles. Isagi and Bachira are next seen in the cafeteria filling up bottles from the water pitchers, which Isagi thanks Bachira for the pass that got him the score. Bachira figures that Isagi must have figured out something during the game, which Isagi admits he did. That it was thanks to Nagi telling him of how he wastes moves that Isagi realized that he wastes time trying to trap the ball to set up his next move. Thus, it became clear to Isagi that by taking his attempt to trap the ball out of his goal formula, it led to his kick being a direct shot the moment the pass comes to him. Overall, Isagi's goal formula is now knowing where to be on the field thanks to his spatial awareness, and then following up with a direct shot, which Bachira congratulates him for figuring things out.

Isagi and Bachira then notice in the nearby hallway the 30 losing players from Team W, Team X, and Team Y being forced out of Blue Lock. One of which includes Team Y's ace, Okawa. Watching the depressed strikers leave Blue Lock, Isagi's reminded that his journey through Blue Lock could end at any time. Niko then appears before Isagi, and points out that he survived thanks to going through a change to score his own goals after his loss to Isagi. He warns Isagi that he will win next time, which Isagi points out that he also changed thanks to his duel with Niko, and warns Niko to come at him as he will win again. After Niko leaves, Bachira points out how Isagi is becoming popular when it comes to rivals. Thinking about how his goals have been affecting others, Isagi's ego kicks in wanting to win more games. Eventually, Isagi and Bachira return to their room with the drinks only to find that Team Z has tired themselves out and fallen asleep.

Some time beforehand during the departure of the 30 losing players, Isagi and Bachira witness the sad split of the Wanima Brothers in the hallway since Keisuke's being forced to leave Blue Lock. A tearful Keisuke says his goodbye to Junichi. Keisuke claiming that he will become an impersonator, and orders Junichi to survive. As Keisuke heads for the exit, a tearful Junichi announces that he will crush everyone for forcing them to split up. The announcement comes as a surprise to Isagi and Bachira as they realize that Junichi can actually talk.
