The Lovebugs, Walter and Sonya, are assigned to Nick and Jessi respectively and try to get them to hook up.

- As You Know: Lampshaded when Walter describes the full body tingling he gets when his charge Nick falls in love. Sonya replies this is something she already knows but he defends as something the audience doesn't, so he's trying to paint them a picture.
- Black Comedy: Right before Jay and Charles wrestle, Jay warns that he sometimes blacks out due to his brothers tea-bagging him in kindergarten.
- Brick Joke: Maury mentions in wrestling class that he has a haircut scheduled at 4:30. Later, during the affinity meeting, Caleb says that Maury has a haircut when the clock strikes 4:30.
- The Bus Came Back: The Sorcerers of The Squaretable return after being first introduced in Requiem For A Wet Dream.
- Dreadful Musician: Nick attempts to sing a love song to woo Jessi. Unfortunately, he turns out to be a terrible singer.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Emmy has a cameo handing Walter and Sonya their clients before becoming the main protagonist of Human Resources.
- Reverse Psychology: Matthew tries using this to get Aiden to dump him, but Aiden sees right through it.
- Roguish Romani: This episode reveals that Bridgeton Middle School's mascot is the "Scheming Gypsy". The affinity group decides to do something about this racist mascot.
- You Are Grounded!: Greg grounds Jessi for destroying the orb on the school statue. She doesn't seem to care.
- Your Head Asplode: Jay's head explodes after Charles tells him he thinks magic is cool.
