• Bizarre Alien Biology: The Ramossans are incompatible with the Breath of Forever.
• Evil Colonialist: Implied the humans on Ramossa used to be this, oppressing the Ramossans.
• Fantastic Slurs: The Ramossans are referred to as roaches by the humans. Liv criticizes this.
• Humans Are the Real Monsters: The Doctor tells the Ramossan leader Lord Jaldam that nothing scares him as much as humans' capacity for vengeance.
• Insectoid Aliens: The Ramossans are called roaches, but Liv claims they are apparently more reminiscent of scorpions then insects.
